KEDA Motors. How good are they?

I had one in my Pursuit that I recently sold and the motor was a beast. KEDA also go under the names KD and Saker. The newest motors such as the 4074 range are very well build.
Steve use to sell them but because they didn't get enough sales had to clear them (fair enough) When I have compared to Castle the Keda motor seems to perform better. Sounds better anyway.

    SKF-4074/2Y 2039 4.5A 98A 29 2900Watts

This is just some stats I got off of the factory webpage.
Few things I notice. First Very accurate KV. 2nd 4.5A No load current. Higher than Leopards but maybe there is a good reason for that.
2900Watts of power!! Now that's a fair amount!

Who has ran these and what do you think of them?

It's hit or miss with these motors. If it doesn't burn up when the boat is launched, you got a good one.
Egneg runs one with no issues.

        1340kv ??

        Hi Guy's ,

Bought the 40-74-1340kv version of Steve about a year ago , sitting on the back of my current Dumas Hotshot 7.5 tunnel outboard project . Hope it is a blast as total weight of my boat is 3.6kg & with the Keda BL Motor being rated at 2800 = 4HP ?? - should have good power to weight ratio on 6S. ......

        Thanks again Steve ,

That motor should be great on 6s approx 52-55MPH by my calculations. I believe you could up the voltage as well.
          Have fun!

Just would like to find most suitable prop as I'd appreciate my boat being capable of at least 60mph (100kmh here ) , also will be raced with Model Boat Club of New South Wales ( MBCOFNSW.COM ) in Sydney , so it would be nice if my boat was in the same realm as those that race frequently ....

X647 I would start on. Best to look at similar sized/ KV motors and base it on the prop they are using.

The video above was not my fastest speed using the 2364kv motor. I worked out some of the chime walking and it gained a few extra MPHs with more stability but I didn't have my camera crew that day.

A 647 is a huge amount of prop for a 4074.........................come to think of it, they dont even make a 647

Yeah I may be pushing it. But it is a 1340kv he has. Best to look at other set-ups though

                            Hi Guy's ,

One of the biggest problems I face in obtaining first hand information is that I am currently living Broken Hill , near South Australian Border in New South Wales . Although I plan to visit the Adelaide Club in the near future , I am over 800 miles from Sydney & loving it , where the N.S.W Club is based in Western Sydney , so I gain a lot of relevant information from OSE.COM & you guy's. ....

So if my questioning seems to be off centre at times , please forgive me as I am currently building , not racing. .....

                              Hey Drax ,

Just dawned on me , you may want to take a close look at my current build thread , as I am building a replica ( not Exact ) of Bob Spalding's JPS Raceboat . Have a passion for Raceboat history here in Oz & racing that took place at Bristol Docks in the UK , so you ought to check it out as you may know the Raceboat & of the great man Bob Spalding was - 1980 World F1 Raceboat Champion ....
