hifei deamed this esc to be defective. its gona be sent back to ofe today. anyhow i was putting this into a year 2000 57 inch aero marine deep v with a lepord 5692. 12s 730 kv motor. i picked that kv because its a 13s max and i think 110 amp max. it sized up with the swordfish 240 esc well. one of the lepord motors has a 20s max. at 12s i think it would have never spooled up. any opinions?

below are the emails sent to me about these problems.

"johnuscg Subject:im having problems with programing my swordfish 240. i tried using the usb linker but after installing the driver for it, it now tells me the device is unknown but installed. using a different computer the usb port wont even notice its pulged it."

"Boaterguy "Subject:Swordfish 200A ESC problems: got the SF ESC and tried programming it with the CD i received, the V4 software. after trying on two different laptops (xp and 7), it gives me the error message "cannot find yyyy's parameter setting". I doewnloaded V2, the software on the 120A page and it reads the ESC (the blue dot turns green), and I can connect to the ESC, but when I try to write to it it times out."

Sure the problems are similar. the esc will not program. But they are not the "exact same problems", Johns pc is reading the usb as an "unknown device", you said "cannot find yyyy's parameter setting". One problem seems to be in the hifei software and the other is in the usb hardware being recognized. Its not a conspiracy. Some computers just dont work with the software correctly.

Brydon (Boaterguy), as for your returned esc, your father emailed me about trying to figure out why you are burning up esc's. I've been in contact with him several times since December 12th. His contact email is the same email address as you use on the forum.

I read the stream of emails.
I'm not burning up ESC's, they just aren't working
my fightercat 140 blew p on the bench at very low throttle
my swordfish did not even program.
no matter what my setup was, I don't think the results would have changed.
I understand the suppos blowing because they suck.

Like I explained to your Dad, If you have having that many issues maybe its not the esc's.

Are you sure the motor is ok, not shorting out. If you have a spare motor maybe try connecting that to te esc and programme it. Just a thought.

                  tried that.
It didn't work before any other variables were were added.
