I like the direction this thread has taken. I'l just shut my fat mouth from now on since I'm not a big boy racer. I mean, how could I know anything if I dont race anyhow?
I've never given advice on racing setups. How is it the guy's with all the big racing experience, and no sport boating experience think they are best to give advice in sport boating?
Generally from what I read you guys are pushing most of your P limited rigs to the point of meltdown to gain that little extra edge. Then i'll suggest to a sport boater to run a milder motor and 6s, and get chastized for it.
I know what has worked well for myself and many other sport boaters, but since I dont race, I guess that's meaningless. I'm not here to get my ego stroked, but it seems some of the hot shot racers around here need that. Your advice is the only that matters.
The fact that some may think 6s is useless in a 30" boat just seems a little ignorant to me. Of course, it may not fit well into a race class, but who really cares if I'm not racing?

I'd like to issue a formal apology to anyone I've offended by my " It ain't no good unless it can do 6 laps on the sixth mile" attitude. I am, honestly, biased and my opinions shouldn't be directed at anyone who enjoys FE no matter what sets their toes a-tappin'. I blame my "head position" on whoever it was that got me hooked on the oval. May the curse of the fleas from a thousand camels invade their undershorts. Got a motor to mount (in my Skiff, not the other way). See Ya'....

Just for clarification on my behalf, I race, mainly sport run and most of the time now, build. At no time have I ever considered myself an "expert" in any of it. I feel theres always more to learn and I can only give my best advice and recommendations from personal experiences of my own and what ive seen. Im not one who pushes racing or race only set ups. And I dont care if I ever have a record in NAMBA etc. Im in it for fun and to spread the word of fun. My 22mph Mini Sniper is just as much a joy to run as my HPR. And neither one are anywhere near setting records or being "the greatest set up" but they run well, and do it repetitively

Never sport boated? What the hell IS sport boating? I challenge you to find a fresh green racer that built his first boat with the intent of racing it and never ran it until the first heat of his first race. My first real FE was a Maus Microbullet. I didn't even know any racers. I didn't even know what a race was. Was I sport boating?

This forum is for sport boaters only. What ever the hell that means. The sporties can have it. I'll try to resist sharing any expereinces with my boats since they're not sport setups.....again, what ever the hell that means. I wont post setup advice anymore. I wont ask for it either. Not here.

Terry why don't we all take a minute to chill - this thread has gone way out of control , I am going to start by apologize for the idiot remark , the way it was taken is certainly not what I meant but I pulled it anyways . I respect all aspects of boaters on this forum and think for the most part we all have something to contribute , certainly things have been said here and feather have been ruffled . I disagree with the " OSE has gotten like RRR " I don't see that even though we have an occasional blowup .

On your initial post we see your point I know I certainly do and have witnessed it myself , but as even Jay admitted some non racers are looking for an edge as far as extra run time . Some of us certainly go that route - I do

                    Once again my apologies.............................

I am in no means a expert, but I can suggest decent setups that won't smoke and burn. My boats are never going to be the fastest, but they're reliable. I would love to try racing if I could. Do to my work schedule and no clubs in Charlotte I started off running mostly by myself all the time and guess what I loved it. No one to "impress" and I get to learn and try new things and the only person who is the judge is me. I think it's really biased that some thing I need to have "race experience" to know how to run a boat. IMHO that attitude scares people away. If I didn't know half you guys on the forum and started reading these thread (especially towards the end), i would be intimated to to ask questions and get involved. At the end of the day we ALL have the same goal and that's having fun and enjoying what we do. Doesn't matter how you reach that goal weather sport or race running, as long as your having fun who cares. This forum is a great place with great information, as the more "experienced crowd (whether sport or racing it doesn't matter)" it's still are responsibility to lead new guys in the right direction (whether they are hard headed or not) and not get so frustrated about things. Lighten up guys, were grown men playing with cool a$$ toys, what else you want?!?

This forum is a lot nicer place to be than a BMW one I go one. I posted some pics up of my 1 series msport and had put an m badge on the back (because it is the msport model) but its not like an m3 so I got some really horrible reactions that were uncalled for. The people on here are much more grown up in my experience.
