Carl has tested the 140 esc with no issues, constant 160a with spikes to 250+, think the caps got a little hot but that was it. I'm giving one to a member of my club one to try out and I have one running a leopard in my genesis which will be in the water in the next week:-)

The DF hulls are also pretty cheap here on OSE, people have commented the DF29 to take far more power and speed than you would expect a small hull to, just another option:-)

      didn't consider the df's.
i went ahead and got a swordy 200 because all of ben's ESC's are out of stock and I was hoping to get my hydro in the water before all my running spots freeze over, good thing one of them has flowing-ish water.
I also got a K51, carbon turn fins and trim tabs and a few other small bits for the mono so I can start building.
i'm getting 4 3S packs so i'll either run 6S 2p or have two sets of packs, which is the best option?

I know it was supposed to have timing, the computer didn't set it properly so that's when it blew.

yepper, the OR motors need timing for sure.

The 140 I had to test was a great little (in size) ESC but it performed great.

just take you time and make sure the programming is what you want to put into it and always start on the small size with props and work
            your way up.

NEVER go hole hog on any ESC when you first run one on the water for the firsttime.

never passed half throttle for fear of flipping that boat anyways, DEFINITELY not a hole hog here.

My bad. I didn't read you had an outrunner in it. Yes, they do need quite a bit of timing. I used to run my Castle 3424 1800kv motor @ 22* and it ran awesome.

I reckon he means whole hog .... hole hog has many different meanings ....

I wouldn't call the fightercat esc a cheap one might be lower prices then a lot of comparable ones but is def not a "cheap" esc.

No matter what always want to make sure timing and settings on everything are correct before you start a motor up or issues are destined to happen we all know this but often overlook it or rush things and have issues happen due to user error.

yeah, they are quality ones, had to go with a swordy tho, they have data logging don't they?

Not in marine esc. The aero guys have that option....

'cheap' esc ...... higher scripted units read rotor synchronously , dont misfire to oppose.. a known cause of 'cheap' esc blowup.
                          Replace 'cheap' with 'average script'

Incorrectly prog'd esc are smoke machines.

                          No foul against FC imports.

the FC aren't imports, are they? i thought it was a team of electronics engineers (although most of those are asian :D) that made them
nobody has answered my initial q about the swordy's, are they worth it or will it blow?
edit: someone should make a knockoff of will it blend with will it blow using cheap ESC's

They are made to FC specs.

From what I have read the SF esc's are pretty good ones.

that's good, but I think i have some sort of magnetic pulsewave that wrecks electronics, my phone broke today after 6 months and all my watches break. (must be my genius trying to escape from being so crammed in there)
