The shelve life on the 603,638 & 648 is 2 years all the bottles are dated. Problem is if a supplier has had it sat on their shelves for some time thats costing you the end user, Ive bought it where its been on the shelve for 6-9 months so omly got just over a year before the date is up. I allways now ask the date on the bottle before i buy now. I spoke to Loctite about how crutual these dates are & they recomend not to exceed these dates as the bond deteriates if it past its date. I could not find "Super Clean 7061" on the Henkel website, no idea what it is. Surface prep products like 7471 and 7649 substantially reduce the strength of the Loctite bond with metal. Loctite 603 is oil tolerant making it the "best" product for the cable end going into the coupler.

        .
so you guys are putting 603 on the coupler end on flex-shaft? procedure? thanks

Instead of soldering the coupling end of the flex you can use 603 to help the flex from unravelling or crushing, put 603 where you would normally put solder. The 603 will penetrate into the flex, wipe of the excess 603 from the surface & let dry. You still need to degrease the flex as you would if soldering, but 603 is oil tolerant as well.

Im not in the US but UK, 603 is part of the high strength retainer range. Normally from bearing suppliers or Engineering suppliers, if you cant locate any look in OSE shop as they have both 603 & 638.

Keep the Locktite in the fridge when not in use, it keeps better BUT, let it come to room temp before using again.
