I am building one of these and have gone for a leopard 4082 and tunigy t180 to run on 6s based on the recommendations I found

Yeah it's 180amp, not sure if your hydro will handle it but I am sure someone else will be along to confirm

Hey Nick, got your PM. The 36mm cans are minimal at best. they will move it but not like your going to want it to move. The 40 size Leopard would be a great choice. I kinda skimmed above so forgive me if I get a little offline, but in regards to the beginning, just because an esc is rated 1t 6S doesnt mean that you always have the choice to run it at 6S. INcase you didnt know, and I didnt see anyone say it while skimming thru, your goal is to find a typical RPM range lets say 30,000rpm for a goal. I run several boats on less and they run well, but lets just say 30k. Now to get your rpm range, take the motors KV and multiply it by the voltage. For example, you ran a 2075 on 5S for an rpm of about 38k and change. 8k doesnt sound like a big diff, but it is. Then you ran too large a prop and on a controller that could only handle 120A, which I dont have FE calc installed yet on my new computer, but Im sure you pulled WAAAY more than 120a.

So first off, find FE calc on here. Download it. Use it, learn it. it will help you tremendously. You may not find exact setups that you want, but you will get yourself in the ballpark. Second, as a few have recommended, get yourself a 40 series Leopard. A 4074 is plenty enough motor to move one of these. Figure out what voltage you wantt o mainly run. If its 4S, grab a 2000 or even a 2200. Know that whatever KV you choose there can always be voltage increases... small. start by adding 1S and drop your prop size. maybe a minute run time and bring it in and check temps. I cannot tell you enought how important monitoring a set up is when its new. if after a couple minutes things are well w/ in the temp parameters, go up 1 prop size. run it for a minute and check temps again... and on everything, not just the motor.

Most important, there is a lot of good info here on OSE. dont be afraid to aks. Sometimes it may take a while to find the correct answers, but in the end, if it save catchnig a boat on fire it was worth it.

definitley go w/ the 180 a esc. Steven has them for sale right here on OSE. Seaking 180. Get the program box its worth every penny. If you need help making a motor decision, post what your usually going to be runing voltage wise and we can pick you an appropriate motor.
