The IMPBA never ran 1s for records Jay. All of the records that were archived were NiMH.
Yes, I understand. But the old IMPBA "4-cell" class is no more, nickel or LiPo. That voltage class still lives in NAMBA, although frankly IMO it is time to retire it permanently even though I was the one who originated the class in the first place. I am just not a fan of "SAW only" classes.

My mistake... Too many SAWs back to back (hahahaha... that's kind of funny, if you think about the irony... ) ... I think I was thinking of the NAMBA 1-cell stuff... I thought that Bill ran that at the August SAW...
Either way, my information provided is still valid. With Bill breaking 50 with his 2-Cell, ROAR STOCK powered Hydro... I wouldn't expect it to be long before the 1-cell, ANY MOTOR class to easily surpass that...
You are pulling my stuff!
The 1S class sounds like fun but I have to go with what motors and esc's I have for now although I need a setup for my 1/12 car.

Right, just wanted everyone to be clear.

I'm building a 1S SAW Hydro, and a 1S SAW Mono right now... in fact, they are already built and the Hydro has been tested...
Pictures? How big is the hydroplane? What is the RTR weight? How big is the LiPo (mAh)?
Where did you get the info before you started building-any internet links will be help to me? Are all 1S lipo racers "powered with 1/12th car setups" ?

It's pretty new to all of us, since the rules were just updated this summer to allow 1S -Lipo (used to be 4-cell NiMH), and ANY motor (used to be any BRUSHED 05 motor). Only Bill Oxidean has run anything in this class that I know of... I don't recall anyone posting the actual record times, however.
The reason why one is going to be rather limited, without certain resources, to RC Car technology is because there just aren't any other controllers out there that can work on 1S... Novak has something, and Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro Special 1-Cell edition can do it. Tekin might have something. There MIGHT be a way to work with an existing controller and get it to work, but if there is, I don't know about it.
As for boat size, the boats I'm using are the same size as my N1 boats... around 22". All of mine are under 2lbs, RTR.

It's a voltage class, limited to maximums of 10,000 mAh and 4.0 volts nominal. We already have two 2S voltage classes, one with limited motors, one with no motor limits.

I can see that its a voltage class, voltage just seems like an awkward way to limit power at the low end when the equipment to run those voltages is so rare, I know N2 is one of them but is the 2s spec class 2s2p max 10Ah as well? How much do the 2s spec motors weigh?
Maybe it just seems strange to me because my 2 local racing clubs have 10s/42v voltage limits for all classes and power is dictated by the battery weight you are allowed, maybe that seems strange to you?
The problem is that the organization tried to fit an obsolete, zero-participant class into the current structure. IMO it should have been completely eliminated and not retained. It was never popular and since the reason for the class was removed the year after it was adopted it should have died long ago. We have too many classes as it is, why keep an obsolete one? SAW only??
Why have a class that is SAW-only that only three people ever competed in? That is what seems strange and doesn't make sense, it has nothing to do with performance.
The 'N' classes are voltage limited with 10,000 mAh maximum capacity.
