I agree with the respect issue, But if it was an item that Steve sold I would never post the link no matter what the cost...That I think is respect...But I understand so I won't post link anymore.

I got the cooling installed on the new esc tonight. As you can see the fets are to close and plated between the boards are impossible. Cooling will have to be done from the top.The first setup I built was with a monstrus thermaltake 12v heat sink fan over copper plate with the mhz cooling block & brass tubing. I bonded it all together with non conductive heat transfering thermal epoxy. It's a great fit and would cool a v8 chevy. problem is it weighs about a half a pound. I opted for another piece of plate with the ose cooling plates and a smaller 7.2v fan. This takes up much less space. Not to mention is a bit lighter.
Each layer is stacked with fets. The bottom 2 have thermal tape connecting the tops of the fets to the bottom of the board above. I'm not thrilled about the layout but at least the heat will be transfered up to the cooling. I'm not planning on much heat anyway. I'm guessing this setup will pull about 120 to 130 amps constant. With a 200 amp esc that leaves alot of headroom. I will see tomorrow.
We are going testing @ 11:00. I have the setup pic here. I have no free bec or lvc so Im tx packing it with a stop watch. I ran out of 5.5's AGAIN so I can't run the dpr today. That's 25 sets of 5.5s in 6 weeks. The power up test was good. No low end cogging like the hex units. Very smooth and it..um...really turned up with a 3/4 throttle burst. WOW. Packs are on the charger and the camera battery is getting charged up also. I'm only going to have temps, speeds & battery drain data this time around. By next weekend I'll have the dpr, bec & lvc wired in. I'm not afriad to admit I'm feeling some nerves after that power up.
Wish me luck
Well fellas this ones my fault. I had thought I covered everything but I was mistaken. I didnt run the pressure test on the cooling system. It goes to show it don't matter how much you know or how long you have been doing this. Costly mistakes are easy to make. All I did was forget to put a single peice of silicone tubing around the end of the 4mm tubing over the first esc cooling plate inlet. The leak was so small I didnt see any water upon the first inspection. I mistook the power down for a week tx pack. I must have bumped the line when I took temps. On the next run water pourd into the esc blowing it. I was lucky the hull didnt get scorched. It does stink pretty bad. I cleaned it out, removed the floatation and hit it with the kirby. The pool nodel I had up in the bow is outside airing out. As you see in the clip the esc is a complete loss. I will double and triple check the cooling system next time. When it ran I noticed no more speed than with the last power system. Proping down just kept the temps down. The x637 made the boat loose. If I had kept with a 40mm prop speed whould have been up quite a bit. I'm out of the water for a while now. I'll order a new esc @ the end of the week if they remain in stock. You can see the damage in the clip.
