Which Gas Sport Hydro to convert to FE?

I plan on building a large Gas Sport Hydro this winter for FE. I am looking for a hull that will be a easy tape down. I was looking at the Speedfreak Hydro but I really don't like the look of the boat even though the hatch looks like it would be a very easy tape down. I don't want to have to modify the cowl this time to get the boat taped down. I was also looking at the RC Boatworks Stryker Hydro and it looks like it may be another option but I am not sure about the back end of the boat, I will have to look at more pics. Has anyone here did a full FE build on one of the Gas sport hydro's ?

Mark F used a Speedfreak hull because it was easy to tape down. It's been well over 100 mph on 10S and he has run up to 16S.

We modify Zenoah RC engines for boat and car applications and carry a complete line of Zenoah engine parts.

Yeah at this point it may be the best option. I am still not real fond of the looks but I guess it may grow on me once I own it.

Fiberglass hulls are usually heavier than wood hulls. With that being said I would build the wood Whiplash Gen2 Gas Sport Hydro Kit.
You would have to use your own imagination and creativity to fabricate an easy to tape hatch. I know it would be out of scale, but maybe you could use the UL-1 hatch and nose cone. That would be a cool winter project.

Don Ferrette modified a Gen 2 Whip for trials last year. I never got a close look at it. Drop him a PM and maybe he has some pics he can send you.

Thanks guys but I want to get a glass hull for this build. I love my wood boats but I think a heavier glass hull would be a better option.

Rumdog the GV is a awesome boat but lacking in room for what I want to doTheHe insane is another great hydro but it doesn't appear to take down without some mods.

I really like the look and shape of the RC Boatworks Stryker 2 hull. It does look like I would need to make a sub hatch which would require me to mod the nose section a little.

I would second a wood gen II whip if you want the best.

Anyone have any feedback on these hydro's? Looks like a easy tape job.

The 1/8 scalers like a little weight. I agree with the Fiberglass Hull.

Do a search on Jim's RC Boat Dock, as I recall there were mixed reviews on these hydros.

Yeah for that price I am always leery about the quality of the hull.

The only reason I used the speefreek hydro was because it had no openings in the cowl. All other hydros do. I second the whip option other wise you could ask the other manufactors if they will close off the holes for you.

Mark in all honesty the Speedfreak hull looks like it handles the water pretty well. Have you tried the hull with any other motor besides the Little Screamer?
