The amp rating is how many amps it can feed the motor.............your setup, hull, prop, motor size, kv etc..........will dictate what the motor tries to pull, so you need to have a logical setup and an ESC that will cover it by at least 50% more.

How do I calculate this? Will a 120 be ok? Was thinking of the leopard 3674 @ 2200 kv with the swordfish 120amp Esc. I also need a prop recommendation.....cost seems to be ok with that motor and Esc.....possibly gonna just go 4s lipo batteries

Start with something 38 mm:ish, check your temps after 1-2 minutes of running. If everything still is cool, try a 40 mm, check temps after 1-2 minutes of running etc. etc

I run a 3674 @ 2800 kv on 3s with a 437/3 (3-blade) and it's definitely on the hot side. Speed is about 42 mph

So I have a bit of a problem....I went to pull my boat out from storage and it is gone and no where to be found.

You might want to look into the Proboat Impulse 31 if your looking for a mono around 30". Very nicely built and decent speed out of the box with good hardware and running gear.
