I've been using the same Thunder Tiger heat gun I got when I was 11 years old, I'm 32 now however I sometimes use my soldering iron or torch by getting the shrink into the same vicinity and it shrinks right up. By the way I've used the OSE shrink on all my esc and batteries for a long time now without a single problem. I reshrink all my esc's to keep a better watch on them.

Ok I opened mine up today. It appears they added an insulator between the heatsink and the FETs now- at least thats my assumption.

      Heres pics of my ESC:

thats that thermal tape stuff designed to transfer heat to the cooling block. (or visa versa if you think like my daughter does. LOL)

still looks like it is over the 3 motor wires and if you are able to, remove it and scoot it BACK off the wiring.
I have had a few suppo esc's like that and had to do that. I even had one that I took to the belt sander
to angle the block so that it would miss the connections on the board.

Ok I see what you guys are saying. I will get it moved and put back in place.

The motor wires are a bit short on this also. I might go ahead and change the wire out while its apart.

I ended up extending the ESC wires about another 1 1/2" or so.

I also noticed that the top of the FETs have some sort of epoxy sealant on them in spots. These are obviously hastily made for $30. So Im going to sand it flat before putting the cooler block back on it. Then Im going to brush on a coat of Epoxy. She just needs a wrapper then should be good for awhile- I hope.

Thought about replacing the two caps and going with 4 total. Given the construction though I dont feel comfortable trying to do this. The two boards are soldered together with some pins at the corners. The other leg of the cap is on the lower board inside. So I cant get to it.

That picture showa how many FETs were not touching the cooling block.
I too block sand that type of ESC flat. but I only use the Hi Model GX200A 8s version with BEC.
I also champher the corner of the cooling blocks that I make, to miss those blobs of solder.
Be sure to add some thermal paste to the FETs before adding the cooling plate.
              Cheers.
              Paul.
