well its been a while. i got a swordfish 120a esc and an x440 prop. and the proper flex coupler.. i ran it today on 14.4v nimh and it was slower then before. but the new prop is substantially smaller..
gonna prop up and see what happens. kinda stuck with nimh batts for now. till i upgrade motor and can afford new 3s lipos.
i was given a pair of common sense 3s 3150mah batts but they are only rated at 8c or 25a continuous or 37a burst. would they work? or will i puff em?
running a rimfire 1200kv outrunner. specs for motor here. model GPMG4620 http://www.electrifly.com/motors/gpmg4505.html
ill run the x440 on 6s not the prather 265 i ran in the video.Comment

My word..............you ran a prather 265???? Thats so large it borders on ridiculous........in fact it is. Run the nimhs, i wouldnt mess with those tiny lipos. That motor is still on the small side but try it with your smallest prop first.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? I ended up getting a proboat 1500kv motor from a friend today so I tossed that in. Ran that with the sf120a and x440 and it ran nice. Right around 26mph on nimh. Borrowed a pair of 2s 5300mah lipos and swapped the graupner k series 48mm prop on and ran 31mph. Borrowed a pair of 3s 5k packs and ran in the mid 30s. The gps shut off mid run and the packs dumped before I realized that.. ill get better gps readings next week. I think my turn fins are too low in the v so I may be removing them and moving them out a bit more. They cause the boat to cut hard corners under acceleration. Probably due to the hull flexing from motor torque and causing the turn fins to act like rudders.

What prop did you use in the vid. It runs well that way..................you may wanna just keep it like that since its about twice stock speed and looks pretty stable....................just keep it all cool and enjoy it, dont start overvolting and over propping it.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? That vid was 6s on the graupner 48mm carbon prop. I'm already on par with my friends stock impulse with 4s on that prop so I'm gonna order a pair of 2s packs. From there ill play with props to see what I can squeze out of it. Ill eventually get a pair of 3s packs but I think 4s will be good for now. I have a vid of it on 4s ill upload in a min. I'm gonna shave those turn fins off this week though. I think they are causing the handling problems.
