Building an Apparition, need some advice

So so far i have ran it with: Turnigy 120A esc, stock motor, and have it on 6s. Never have owned a boat, always trucks and cars so i wanted to try my hand at it. Guy at hobby shop sold me a 38mm grim racer (sp?) prop. Seems to run ok, motor temps are way to hot though. Ive been lurking on here reading threads on this boat, i know the stock motor is junk. Looking to upgrade to a Tacon 3674 1300kv motor and would like to dial in the prop size. I could run on 4s but i have a bunch of 3s packs i wanted to run in this.

Also read about drive shaft/flex cable upgrades? i would like to can the 4mm and go to3/16th but have no clue what to order.

Ive also replaced all the small dia tubing for cooling system and cleaned up the rudder pick up, everything seems to run cool except motor. (pulling big temps, around 175 degrees)

So any advice on a reliable 6s setup would be greatly appreciated! Cant be beat by my buddies Miss G boats...

I feel your pain. My buddy has a miss geico and I refuse to be beat by it.

If you want to replace the strut kintecracing.com has a 3/16 strut that will work.
    I'm running a fiego 8xl on 4s
Octura m445 prop and hitting about 54mph. Well 53.6 per the gps.
    Blows the miss geico away.

I had to modify the motor mount a little to make the fiego xl motor fit but works great. Has enough power to torque roll and flip if I give it full throttle from a standstill.

For 6s maybe try a fiego in say a 1400 to 1500 kv range
If you want to spend a little more try a leopard or even a neu.

Oh and you will need more esc. 150 amps minimum. I'm running a castle 240 probably overkill but it works.

You can try this Leopard clone/knockoff 4 pole from Turnigy, The "B" series is the 4 pole version from what i gather, should rock on 6s and you can use the stock ESC............till it gives out from just being plain cheap...........then get a T120 or 180 which will both work.

Well with a 1300 kv motor you should run 6s to get good speeds. I run a 3674 1900kv tacon in my app on 4s with a x442 prop, no gps yet but its pretty quick. The motor runs cool around 110 but the hobbyking 125 amp esc I am using is being strained to the max! last time i got it up to 200 degrees!! If you want fast speeds and good temps i think this boat needs a 180 amp esc or more... Im looking to upgrade to the seaking 180 when I got the cash.
