You wont be disappointed with 45-50mph you will be surprised how much space you need! The 180a turnigy ESC is a good choice, Feigao that OSE sells is another good
budget choice you can also check out fightercatracing.com for Suppo motors I try to buy my stuff from OSE, Fightercatracing and Kintec I might pay a little more but these guys will help you if you have a problem. I use Hobbywing for batteries only.

Also if you can give more details about what you have and what you want to get out of this for instance

What props do you have on hand?
How many minutes of run time at what speed do you want a good target might be 10 min @ 45mph to start the 180a turnigy will handle that and more
What are you thinking for batteries 462p, etc, etc

Advanced search is your friend set it for titles on and dig in there is a ton of info here to help you
Watch and go through the items for sale forum lots of stuff there for a good price but it goes fast so watch it like a hawk!

    Best of luck

if not racing i would go a high voltage setup like 6s2p 5000 mah 40c- 22.2 volts and 10,000 total mah batteries and a seaking 180 esc with a leopard 4082 around 1300-1500 kv and achieve a decent runtime for those types of speed

esc and motor puts you around $200 and some turnigy or zippy lipos around $75 each, you need 2 to get 6s2p 2 batteries in parallel- the higher the voltage the less amps with a lower kv motor you probably want to be close to 30,000 rpm to get to 60 mph with the right prop ( volts x motor kv)

Thanks. Thats a great help. I have been looking at others setups of this hull. I still really cant understand the whole bl motor thing quite yet. For example the cc 7700kv motor I have. What is it about that motor that makes it unsuitable for boats. It def has more power than you can use in a car. Even with punch control and a softish throttle curve it just rips the tire nearly right off the rims and I cant even dream about full throttle. Typical noob mistake....lol

water has alot of drag and takes alot of power to move a boat fast more so in a mono something like a rigger , hydro, cat has less contact with the water will tke less power to reach said speed, now your motor may work in a small hydro or mono but not you 33" mono your going to need the torgue of a big motor. how much horse power did the boat have before and what rpm and how fast did it go, you can closely relay this in to back to the electric motors

you wouldnt dare put that motor in an e-maxx and expect the same results as the 1/10 car

I see your point thanks. I guess I havent quite learned the torque vs rpm issue with brushless motors. I may sell the 7700 because its in an f1 car and it is just way too much. Not even fun to drive.

Blimey the prices must have skyrocketed in the last year, last time I checked you could get a real Nue 1527 for under $300 and the prices for the Chinese Castle Nue copies were significantly under those for the same size real Nue motor.

I run a MM7700kv combo in my Tamiya F201 F1 car, on 2s1p A123 LiFePo4s which are lower voltage than LiPos and while it has humongous power its just on the good side of the uncontrollable edge for me, if you know anyone who runs A123s see if you can borrow a pair before you decide whether to sell of the motor or not.

Edit: Holy price-hikes batman! I just looked up the prices on the Castle site and real Neu motors have gone up but nothing like how the Castle motors have, the Castle 1515 is $299 and the Neu 1515 is only $273, you have to pay an extra $26 to get the Chinese made copy over the handmade in USA original now, WTF!

Thanks !! I guess I just need to do a bit more playing around to get it driveable.Im not currently using lipo batts but since I will need to get some for boating I will try them out.
