    Flex shaft question

Bought a flex shaft on the b&S forum and it looks new but was trying to identify the maker. Doesn't look like the typical octura cable I have seen as it almost looks like brass on the outside and the stub appears to be brazed on. juts want to make sure it will hold up for LSH/p/spec and not fall apart and loose a prop
    Size is .150.

Sure sounds like a Hughey shaft to me, but there is no "real" way to find out who made it unless the seller knows...

Yep, most likely a Hughey shaft. I've started going to .187 shafts in everything. For some reason the .150's are not holding up for me in my spec boats.

          Jim,

I just remembered... I have a couple of pictures of a Hughey brand shaft in one of my threads. Take a look on post #4 and see if that helps you out...

Ed once told me that the 1/8" cables were often stronger than the 0.150 flex stock he has often received. Bigger isn't always better.

Depends where you got it it could be mine but a pic would show the real proof. I thought Eds shafts are different and generally have a drive dog on it and pinned.

I can't be 100% certian, but I think the .130 flex with 1/8" stubs have a pinned drive dog The larger sizes do not.
