I got all my lipo's and boats ready last night and woke up full of enthusiasm, I quickly got the kids off to day care, kinder and shcool and when getting back in the car a few drops of rain started on the windscreen, not to be set back I rushed home and started getting all my gear over to the lake and the rain past. I ran my Df35 pirate first and it ran like well, a little wet but I figured I'd just move the batteries back a little next run, on opening the hatch I notice a heap of water inside the hull, after a little inspection I found that a cable tie on the motor cooling can was too tight and had caused the silicon to split, no big deal, easy fix, I dried up all the water and fixed the leak.
Then I ran my titan to try out my tapeless sub hatch, great, the boat ran like a dream, good speed, handling and cool temps. Upon opening the hatch I was stocked to see that not a drop of water had gotten into the hull, great.
Time for my second run with the Pirate, I hooked up a couple of new nano tech's, moved them back a tad more than my first run and through it in, ran a fraction wet again but was very stable at 95kps, at about 4 minutes into the run the lvc show it's head so I bought it in, this time upon opening I noticed that horrible smell, after a look I found the little 7/32 brass bushing that I use in the end of the 1/4 stuffing tube had come loose and had been spinning causing enough heat to melt the heat shrink that cover the tube, no huge problem but hey, I was planning on running this boat the most today and with the weather looming above and my "free time" running lower, I figured I'd put the Pirate aside for the day and get back to the titan until I run out of 4s lipo's.
Whilst set the titan up for another run, I noticed the postie comming in the drive so I kept a close watch as I've been waiting a month for my cats to arrive, I watched as he carried a huge rectangular box into the office, Let's just say I was very happy. Instead of rushing over, I got the titan ready and through it out, and again she was running like a dream until about 3minutes into the run it just stopped from full throttle, I pumped the throttle one quick burst and could still hear a bit of noise so I guessed I may have broke a shaft or something, paddle time. After onening her up I found no driveline issues, just what I'm guessing is a dead bearing or something wrong in the motor, when I use a little throttle all I hear and see is the motor shaft shuttering/vibrating, damn, but oh well, that 1515 2200kv copped a hammering in a 15-16lb truck before it went into the boat, time to try a lepard.
I packed up and carried everything back over to the house and quickly tidied my stuff so I could go unpack and admire my new Areomarine 42" sprint cat with carbon reinforcment and water damaged mean machine. I got the box open and was happy to see the MM with no damage that won't be fun to fix, I got excited with the thought of stripping this thing down and rebuilding it the way I want, it's going to be a fun project. My emotions soon hit yet another low point when I got the sprint cat out and discovered that Aeromarine had sent me a hull with nice big solid rails that have destroyed all my build plans for this boat, gutted and to top it off they forgot to put in the 2 struts and couplers that I payed for. I've had a custon twin floor mount made that I'm not sure will fit and I'm stuffed if I know how I'm going to fit all my planned gear into this hull with those rails wasting all the space. I may cut them out, I'm sure I'll find a way eventually, Im stuck with it now.
If anyone looking for a good, cheap and fun project you should try to pick up one of these mean machines from Aeromarine.
here's a few pic's of the MM and the "other one"
