    Wicked power for a DF33?

I've got a wood railed, clean and straight DF 33 KO in a nice thick layup. Supposed to be good for speed being so straight and solid.

What I want to know is what kind of watt range will get it to scream.

I've never built a 33" mono, so this is new.

Have a bunch of power/motor combinations to suit, just need to know the optimal watt range to shoot for.

I was going to set it up with a 4082, but have decided that I might want a bit more power and figured this would be the place to ask!

A hot high speed setup would be a Neu 1521 1.5d I think. It's 1860kv anyway. Stir in 6s voltage. It's a lot of rpm, but it MIGHT be do able. I'm not sure what top end speed the hull can handle, but maybe you can move the COG way up.

it can turn real fast you just need fairly smooth water ben...a 1521 1577 kv on 6s lipo will get you mid sixties...around 3000 watts possibly will get you there..m645 prop...mid 50's is plenty fast though if you know what i mean for turning purposes and full throttle most of the time with this hull..it will flip on choppy water at these speeds though

So the 4082 might do OK then?

              DF 33 clone / Neu 1521 1.5D / Hydra 240 / X447 / 4S2P - mid fifties
(more with x450/3). Took lots of dialing in to get it this way, but :

Even a CC1520 on 6s could rip it up!
And that motor can take 8s

If you can get your mits on a 1717, go that route with 6s. The problem with putting the CG too far forward with that hull is that it will have tendency to stuff, and bow-steer in the turns.

                        Good post.
If you have trouble keeping it down add weight right at the CG. This won't have any ill effects.
I add up to 1lb of lead to my 31" Rico depending on conditions.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of them, but I'd rather go HV on this one.

I could easily set it up with a 1717 on 6s, but would rather set it up on 10s. Using some 5s packs I have already and a 10s controller without a home.

If the 4082 (max rated 3500 watts) will hold up, I have a few different KV's. I could use the 1050kv on 10s and get about 35k rpm.

                            That's good to know!

Likewise I could increase lipo size and/or distribution to help stabilize it I assume.
