This was an OSE UL-1 shaft. Steve has graciously offered to replace it free of charge. I had already ordered and received another (hence the video) but I figured if I could fix the broken one I would have a spare.

You may want to look at the strut angle. I don't know if this applies to model boats but on a regular boat if the trim is not set right the boat will tend to porpoise similar to what yours is doing. You may want to force the bow down a little.

Updates! Ran the Genesis today twice. First run topped out at 73.5 mph, second run was faster at 75.5 mph. Can definitely go faster with some more tweaking.

Unfortunately on the second run she crashed rather hard and the hatch sank. Does anyone by chance have a spare? I'll pay cash (Paypal). Otherwise I see a new hull in my future.IMG_0577.jpgIMG_0578.jpg

Figured I would revive this thread after some prodding from a fellow member. I am on Genesis hull #3. Lost that first hatch, bought another hull. Hilariously, on the first run of hull #2 it crashed and the hatch sank again! My dumbass meant to re-do the battery hold-downs on #2 so that, in the event of a flip, the batts didn't break loose and punch the hatch off. Of course I was in a hurry and didn't do it, so now there are two Genesis hatches at the bottom of Verona pond for the would-be salvage diver.

Got a great deal on a new, virgin and un-drilled Genesis hull and put my gear in it. Being undrilled, it has no aluminum antenna mast, no knurled hatch handle thing, etc. Re-did the battery hold-downs properly and also pinned the front of the hatch. I have run this hull several times with great success. My setup is pretty dialed in (Leopard 4082 1,600 kV motor, Swordfish 240 ESC and 2 4S 5,000 Li-po's) so that nothing comes back more than warm after a bunch of all-out passes.

My last tweaks will be to raise the strut a little more and see what it does. I will need to extend the screw slot in the strut since it is bottomed (or topped?) out at the moment. I might also try trimming a bit off of the prop since I am real close to hitting it as it is.

Im looking at finishing a very similar combo. What prop ended up working the best for you? Have you achieved anymore speed then previous posted?

So far my best speed is still 75.5 with the M545 Octura prop. It was porpoising bad when I had the X642 on it (less diameter, slightly more pitch than the M545) and I swapped it out, but I have since adjusted the strut angle and want to try it again. I might be able to squeeze some more speed out of it with the 642, maybe not. Will need to do some GPS'ed runs to get some data.

What kinda temps were you at when you finished running? 90? 110?

90's tops. I'll bring my infrared temp gun next time.

huh, well thats pretty low. I wonder why..... I have the same motor, but with a 180 seaking on 6s with a m445 prop and 45c packs. It temps in the mid 90's after a full set of pack run thru it hard!

I wonder if the esc your running is keeping things cooler or something. You have a swordfish hv 240 right?

Yep you are right I am very interested in this build since it is along the same lines as what I am working on!

I think I am going to go with the fightercat 16s/300amp esc though instead. Unless I come across a swordfish for cheaper then new.
