What do you guys think of an M447? It is the only one in stock that is sharpened and balanced already. Otherwise I will just get the M445 and s&b it myself.

Scratch that. The M445 is not in stock at all.

I shake my gps before i make a run and 2x my speed on my vids. lol

I start with the strut all the way up and then set my prop angle. Now set the cog and you should have it. Check out the pics.

        A x642 only got me 81mph on 9s.
Rumdog is right try a m445
Oh! The cocky guy is back! Mudl's Genesis rides MUCH better than yours at speed, bud. Plus his setup is much more realistic in terms of efficiency. Go brag somewhere else.

Ok guys I think we are on the right track here! The boat really likes the M445 prop and it is WAY faster than with the X642. Also the hopping is much reduced. The motor sounds really happy too. Thanks for all the tips!

Unfortunately my buddy with the GPS couldn't make it (I need to buy one already) so your guys guesses are as good as mine on the speed. I'll just say it's over 50.

I will continue messing around with the strut and c.g. a tad.

Any recommendations on other props that might work? Note that after several full-bore passes nothing under the hood was hot. I think it has some more to give!

If you don't get warm temps, you might want to push it a little with a bigger prop
I DONT want to say that your motor should be hot after running, but if it's cold, you have a little room to prop up.

                    Thanks!

I should be able to get some GPS readings tonight.

I may also try an M545 which is the same diameter, but slightly pitchier.

Ok I'm back. I blew another shaft when I was able to get my buddies GPS in the boat (of course) but it did hit 60.3 before it went...and I was not at full throttle.

I am ready to run again and I also have an M545 to try (was running M445).

P.S. Does anyone know what kind of glue is used on the aftermarket shafts sold here on OSE? The one that failed just came apart at the flex shaft/prop shaft junction. The glue is yellow-ish and might be epoxy? They don't appear to be force fit, so I guess only the glue is holding them together?

Loctite 603 or 638, sold here on OSE, they can also be soldered.

Thanks Boaterguy, although what was there was not Loctite (it was some sort of glue).

I tried the Genesis again today with the M545 prop (M445 last time) and it really seemed to like it. I was flying solo again so I only got one short clip, with a crash!

Weird thing was is that I put the M445 back on it to see the difference and it starting porpoising like crazy again. Bizarre considering it liked that prop last time.

I am noticing that the boat gets real sensitive when you let off of the throttle in a pass...have to do it smoothly or it will flip.

During one run the boat did a 180 at speed and literally went about 60 feet backwards with the nose dug into the water and the whole transom in the air. I have never seen anything like that before...

I believe OSE & Octura made shafts are bonded with Loctite 603, Some do use 638 although its a stronger bond its not oil tolerant when assembling. The flex cables are a slide in fit in the stub. On my Octura .130 shafts that i make the hole in the stub is around .002" bigger than the flex. Dont know what make you have though. Martin.

OSE has an article about assembling flex cables, you rough up both the flex and the stub before assembly, this gives a better bond. You also need to clean out any drilling fluids left by manufacturers, I don't know to what degree hobbyking does this, if they do the flex, but it can't be as good as OSE or octura would be at assembling them

Apart from the correct things to do when bonding shafts ie scuffing surfaces, using the correct stuff when cleaning ( i use Loctite 7063 Super Clean ). I find on some stubs the hole isnt drilled deep enough, Obviously the deeper the hole the more area will be bonded. I drill my stubs deeper if their not already deep enough for a stronger bond. Martin.
