It's such a good rescue boat (cheap) Someone on OSE saw this contraption and added his own twist to it by converting it to lift the dead boat out of the water, then bring it back. Very cool!

      Jason,
I think on the next one, we make it so that it can come apart down the middle for ease of transport. He was a big boy! maybe twin props, no rudder, stick radio where each stick powers each prop. This will make it easier to split for transport AND maake it much more maneuverable too. I have an idea for the business end of each pontoon!

I stole your idea and have gone through a few versions of it. Here is version R4.0 It now has a outboard with a BB700. Has enough power to bring in a Rio51 no problems!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. I like your motor platform over mine. Mine was too low in the water.

Yes it sits above the water line. That was changed in version R3.0 There is two legs that drops down so whatever it brings in, doesn't go through and hit the outboard.

lets fill it with lead so I can beat my boss with it. Danny I have 2 proboat esc's so we can do 2 motors we just need another motor.

                    Hey Danny,

Since you mentioned it, here are some recent pictures of my PVC Contraption with the winch boat lift.
It does work very well and is fairly easy to manuver.
The only issue I have sometimes, is trying to get the rescued boat between the sponsons when it is 200+ feet away.
I am waiting for a cheap WiFi camera to be released that I could use with my BlackBerry so I could "ride along" on the rescue boat and get a first person view of the rescue.

I will be watching this thread closely to see how the ducted fans work. I may want to switch to those as well. I like the idea of not having anything below the water line when attempting a rescue.

Question. If I was to use two motors with a PISTOL radio, is there a way to make them steer without a rudder. Like those cheap ebay vector thrust systems?

It has to be a channel mixer of some kind. I don't think the V-tail mixer will work since FighterCat57 send me his a a bonus gift when I bought 2 motors from him....

                            Bonus gift Steve.... :p

Actually, what you could do is use a second servo from the steering channel and use it to actuate a hefty PAIR OF microswitch's to turn power off & on to either motor and you have one motor's speed control working proportionally, other is off... I'm sorry about the messy typing, I keep getting ideas in my head as I type...

It's crude but, will work for a rescue boat, just no proportion on one side.... Now I'm thinking even more..... can you see the smoke?
