    Keeping ESC from getting wet?

How do you guys protect the ESC's from getting wet or is it even something to worry about? I have a castle 240 Hydra HV and it's open on both ends, so i'm worried getting it wet may short it out. Any ideas? Thanks

Hatch tape! Corrosion X on the esc as well.

There will come a time when your controller is wet and will not work. This is what I do when that happens; Unplug everything, let it dry completely (I put mine in front of the hairdryer, on the coolest setting, for 10 minutes at each end) then fire it up again. If you see a red blinking light when you apply throttle but have no power to the motor, unplug it and dry it some more!

I've ruined controllers in the past by trying to waterproof them so I steer clear of it, I use the above method with a little corrosion X and have had great luck resuscitating controllers.

I built a radio box for mine. It works perfectly and keeps the water out. Castle speed controlers are great as long as they stay dry!

        Good luck!

The easy option is to seal the hull, now that sounds great but there are times when water will get in. I place my esc in the middle of the hull looking at it from the side.
If it is right way up or upside down and there is a little bit of water in there then I have no worries.
If there is more water then I have a lot of worries and I have done so, many a time.

The best thing to do with a ESC that has been wet and has not let out lots of smells is to dry it out. Be patient as it may take 24hrs to dry depending on where you put it and your climate.

I have had many a wet ESC come back for more punishment !
          See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

I build a small platform for my ESC's to get 'em up off the bottom of the boat. That's the first step.

I put either hot glue or silicone in the ends, it does not waterproof it completely, but it can't hurt, once they get wet, rice, oats, anything for a day or two if the other drying methods don't work. I balloon my rx's, it might work if your esc wires are long enough.

This is exactly how I've overheated ESC's. The heat cannot dissipate if you seal the ends of the controller. Trust me, don't do it!
