Damn interesting indeed Rip. What is a Stevens Pipe in the description? Sounds like the knurled sleeve. I wonder if it needs to be glued into place into the transom??

I did find this picture, looks like the knurled sleeve is glued into the transom.

I would think you would want the 2 shafts mounted in a "V" shape off the drive looking from the back, not straight side to side... Then they hold it in an up down position and side to side and i would that would keep it from twisting.

*edit* did you really throw it out? If not, you can sned it my way and I'll build a boat to try it on... LOL ALSO I would think the set screw may be to grease the shaft without pulling it out. On the MHZ website it looks like it is a fitting for a line, which I would think would be for an oiler...

You are correct. that is the reason for the twisting.

That is (was) a Trimax Eco, the simple one of the lot, with only two anchor points. Those two should have been mounted a LOT higher on the transom. Anyway, this version was meant for boats in the 600-800mm range, so it was a bit small for the racemaster...

Very good observation guys...i may have figured this out if i had taken the time to really think about the situation. But yes it did go to the trash unfortunately...thanks for the insight and for future reference others may know a little more on how to mount it correctly...makes sense to angle the turnbuckles higher

Trimax drive can work fine if it' s well installed.. LoL But it' s very expensive. Same as Ripfence, I will use a Speedmaster from OSE in my MHZ Racemaster, flex is from Prestwich Model Boats in England.
