                  I'm still leaning towards the 1000kv and that one shows more amp draw

                      No offense intended, but would it not be wise to listen to folks who have actually raced 10S boats over 40" long? There are a lot of them on this board, and spending the $$$ based on the opinions of folks with no experience is...risky. It's you money though...

                      I would not be too concerned about the amp rating of the Leopards. That rating is based on watts, not amps - pick the motor based on watts, and 5500 is better than 4500. It is common to exceed the manufacturer's amperage rating in boats. For example the Neu 2215 is rated for just 65 amps continuous, but we normally run 130-150 continuous amps through them. As long as they do not overheat they are fine. Use a big enough prop and you can load any of these motors to 250+ amps if you want - the motors won't like it though.
