I would measure your bracket and ask Steve if you can order just a bracket. Therer are several sizes:

Well keith my rudder now has a 4" bracket itself not the bracket the mount to the transom so a 5" then or 3" ?

I would put a good size prop on it, take the rudder off and move it an inch either way. See if it hits the prop when you turn either way by just moving it with your hand and eyeballing it (you can make motor noises if you want). Find what you like best and order teh right part. I think you will really like this boat with a bigger prop, even at a lower voltage.

No. The bracket change could be the simplest method. But if you have a choice in lengths my preference would be to go shorter. Only because with the prop on the outside of the turning radius you should have more control input. However, not owning that hull an issue might arise with coupling. In short,.... by placing the rudder closer to the turn fins, and the fact the hull is long, the rudder surface area might not be effective very well at lower speeds. I dont think so by your pictures. But be aware that this might make an impact at low speeds. Just my 2 cents.

Okay John I just did what keith said and a 3" bracket would be the ticket....I noticed on my other mono the stinger is longer than the rudder bracket, and they all handel great at low and high speeds but are shorter though...So i guess in short I'll oder a 3" bracket from steve and grab up some good lipo's... All my other packs are hyperion and havent failed me yet, so I'll post a wanted add but the chances of finding the right configuration is going to be hard....Any lipos you guys wanna sell LOL got a sweet DF mini sniper to trade LOL...Thanks A ton keith and John and Fluid.

Just ordered 2 new 5s hyperion lipo's. Already have some 2s packs that are the same but my wire's are only 12gauge....Is that going to be an issue when running 5-6s? What about 7s?

Okay after really looking at the rudder problem I unscrewed the set screw on the strut for XXXX and giggles...The center of the strut is adjustable....go figure...Made me realize I'm still a neebie lol...anyways So i lenthened the strut and adjusted the drive dog accordingly.... I snaped a couple of pics so you guys can look and see it thats okay....Flex shaft spins smooth and the pic is with a s240....????????

So I'm guessing on the bench your not seeing any interference or impact with the rudder and a Prather 240? Thats like a 54mm prop but a bit more aggressive then a 455. Not a bad choice. Sounds like its more in the range you want to be in.

No, John no interference at all....I just threw on the 240 for bench testing because it's the biggest prop I have. Just wanted to make sure what i did was okay.....I'll start with the X645 to be on the safe side but I believe Keith Ran a s240 on his 40 mono so That MIGHT be where I stop....But probably lower. He was running a 2215.

Back on the battery issue...Will I be okay running the Hyperion packs with 12 gauge wire? On 5s-7s?

That is the 64 dollar question. I would say go ahead and try it. But having said that what I would do right away when doing your maiden runs is only go out for small time frames at the beginning. Say run for 30 seconds? A complete lap maybe? In other words a short period. Bring it in and put your hands on the 12ga wire. Then the bullet connectors. If they all feel the same, go back out increase the time/distance a bit. Repeat the drill. Work your way up to where your confident that your not stressing any of the wiring/ components. I still would up grade to batts with all the same gauge wire. But thats just me.

Here is a calculator you can use to see the differences in wire gauges. But it doesnt show you what the connector ir is or the batts for a total circuit ir.

Okay going to try that john.......But ya all the hyperion's lipo's I have run 12 gauge wire....They've treaded me good runing 6s on my other setups.....So ya all the gauge of the wire's will be the same. My new 5s packs will be in monday. I decided no to use the different gauge wire from my cheep flightmax lipo's...I'll keep them for my other smaller, less cell count set-ups...

Dude, try the s240 on 5s2p. If it runs ok and everything stays really cool, try it on 6s. I really think you will like it with the bigger prop. The 5692 should have the power to push it, the concern is more in regards to current draw. That 1340kv motor will pull alot more current doing the same work than my 2215. I mostly ran mine on 9s2p, so yours will take 50% more current to produce teh same power.

I dont think you will be interested in goin back to the x645 once you get a good sized prop on it.
