    Mono Set-up Question/Comments

Just got my Hydra 240hv back from castle so I'm swaping out the T-180 and have a few questions our really just some advise on how i should rig it. Will be running 7s( one 2s pack and one 5 s pack) on the 5692 leopard. Or can go with 2 5s packs and 2 2s packs aswell. Below are some configurations I thought about trying. Whitch one will be the best for an over-all running in VERY ruff water conditions meaning 6"-8" chop!
Picture 1 is option 1. And picture 2 is option 2 and you get the idea. Which option should i run with. Prop idea's...I was thinking an X645. Thanks guys

I wont comment on the pack arriangments, but I will offer some basic advice. You need bigger bullets on the smaller packs. Larger ones will have lower resistence and a greater conducting surface area. I also would worry about mixing packs with different wire gauges. That can lead to several problems from like circuit IR, etc. This will be compounded by the water conditions you want to run in. Theres no way you will be able to run WOT in 18" chop. Not with a 40" hull. I didnt say you cant try it. But you will be stuffing the hull like crazy, loading/unloading the motor because the props out of the water.

I cant even run my 9 foot long SeaDoo in 18" chop/ waves. So on partial throttle you will be heating the heck out your speedo by running reduced speed. And I would get some serious pack holders too. You dont want a pack to come loose and bang around or short things out. Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

The smaller packs are new and i havent soldered my 6.5mm bullets. But ya it does suck about the smaller packs 12 gauge wire verses the 10 gauge on the 5s packs.

Which 5692 motor? An x645 is pretty small for a big boat and that motor. IME you are better off running 2P in rough water, it helps hold the boat down. I don't care how you place the cells in the boat as long as the CG is correct. Some feel that putting them in the center of the hull hurts turning but I have not seen that in my monos. I've had them in the center and on the sides in the same hull and didn't see a difference in handling.

1340KV model Fuild.....What about the 2s packs having 12 gauge wire verses the 5s packs 10 gauge....Is it really that big of a deal? I got discouraged, and put it in the swap shop because i didn't want to burn anything up, but if i can get this fiqured out I'll keep her! An x645 is the biggest prop i have untill the prop hits the rudder when turning....I bent the tips of my blades on my x450.

Dont dump a good project due to batteries. Thats an easy fix. Look in the swap shop. I bet the right combo pops up. As far as the prop hitting your rudder. That doesnt sound good. Some hardware mods sound in order. Have any close up pics to elaborate on the issue? Theres a bunch of metal carvers who can assist. The fix might be very simple if is a stand off issue or spacing.

I see what your saying. Any chance now a side view? Looks like the stinger could be shortened. Just a thought.

Any idea what brand of rudder that is? You may be able to buy a shorter or longer bracket for it. 45mm prop is way too small for that hull, especially for what you want to do with it. Personally I would fix the rudder situation, and run 5s2p with a x452 or maybe even an x455 depending on how it takes it. It would be a whole different boat and you wouldnt even come close to topping it out in the water you are talking about running in.
I took my 40" mono up to lake huron (great lake) , which has some pretty decent waves. With a 1020kv Neu 2215 I ran 6s2p with a s240 and never even go tclose to full speed. They are fun in waves but you dont need anywhere near the RPM you would be running with 7s on that motor.

Was told a speed master Keith...I know she wouldn't top out when its that choppy out, its just nice to now when its calm she flat out run. When its nasty out panned on running 6s. I thought about a longer bracket.....I also have a S240 prop aswell.

Pictures are worth a 1000 words! Lets get to basics and ask the obvious. Do you have any tools at your avail to modify the hardware? Like a lathe to reduce the length of the stinger or a mill to modify the rudder bracket?

A lathe yes, good friend of mine ownes a CNC shop.....But the bad thing is he's in the process of moving to a bigger building. I'am actually building him a few offices and a show room so i know that it would be a while before he could get to it.
