    Mystery 80 ESC

I have come to the conclusion that these are 100% pieces of junk I have sat here for the last 4 hours trying to program this worthless a** thing and nothing. It wont come off of soft start up and I am done. It is going to give me great pleasure to smash this worthless piece of crap into a million pieces. Sorry just ventin!

Yes the chineese ones should only be purchased with setting box or they become a pain in the arse! You smash that sucker and go buy a castle, go man go!!!!
UH have some cheaper ones with good program options.

does it play any sound when you turn it on?
if throttle is idle when turning it on you should hear a little music and then one or two bip depending if brake is on or off
if throttle is WOT when turning it on, it will play a different music and then 9 series of bips and bops as following...

        1) - - - Brake On
        2) -- -- -- Brake Off
        3).- .- .- NiCd/NiMh
        4).-- .-- .-- LiPo
        5)..- ..- ..- Soft Startup
        6)..-- ..-- ..-- Hard Startup
        7)...- ...- ...- Soft Timing
        8)...-- ...-- ...-- Hard Timing
        9).... .... .... Reset to factory settings

pull the throttle to idle to validate a parameter

Thanks Ed I have went through that sooooo many times its not even close to funny. It came with those exact instructions. All of the settings will change except soft startup. I wouldnt care about it but the only way to get the boat on plane is to hand launch it and if I wanted to do that I would just go back to nitro. I am sure it is a bad unit but I will never buy another. Thanks for trying to help me out. Sincerely Will

well... I have 3 of these ESC and never really noticed any difference when changing from soft to hard startup... got them for 15£ average!!!
but you are saying that you really need a hard startup to get the boat on plane???

if it is a 3-point hydro, then yes it needs a hard start. anything else and it does a submarine imitation :).
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

I wont purchase any esc without a computer or handheld programmer. Even castle esc's can cause me a issue hear and there when trying to program with the trigger. I have a hard time with beeps, blips and pauses. Hopefully I never have to use morse code at any high rate of speed!

                    got you! throw it away!
the best one I have needs almost 1 second after WOT to have the motor spining correctly, during that time, the Mystery is trying to catch the motor rpm!!! the 2 other I have are even worth, during that second, the motor spins forward and reverse and then spins all right!!!
in any case you wont make any good with your Viper!
