Thanks everyone for the input. I actually held off after staring p1 and the geico down for like 30 min. Isn't the outdrive on the p1 already adjustable stock? One of the reasons it apealed to me was the hardware looks like it's quality stuff. Well that and it's so danm cool looking. I love how long narrow and low it is. I'm just not sure how it'd handle. And according to the stats it can only handle up to a single 2s pack? It is so cool looking though? I just can't decide. I really wanna try a cat but I've heard about several issues with the geico like the flex shaft is the wrong direction and people going through speedo's left and right? I have a couple months before the ice breaks here in wisconsin so I guess I need to think about it some more

The flex on the Geico. It was only the very first shipment and was corrected. If people are burning up that Proboat esc, it is 100 percent user error. It is a good esc. I KNOW people are doing things like running 5s stock when they shouldn't. then they want to blame the electronics.

          Venom stats say the P1 is a 3s x 5400mah. Thanks martin.

I forgot about these. I was actually checking them out after seeing them in the new hc catalog and there was one here in the swap shop. It does look nice too. Wonder how much shipping is from hongkong or wherever the main warehouse is? Everytime I want to order something from them it's never in the us warehouse. I wanted to order a $30 or $40 2.4 ghz 3 channel radio for my cars and it was almost as much as the cost of the radio to ship the dang thing. They do have great deals tho. Wish they just had more stocked in their us warehouse. Anyways, is the genesis rtr? Does it come with single and dual motors or is that the other cat on their site?

none of the HK boats are RTR, and all the ESC's in them are throw aways, dont even bother using them. You may also want to consider an APPARITION. They are a little smaller than the Genesis and thus are easier to get higher speeds out of and also get longer run times out of your batteries. I have an apparition and i love how it handles and how fast she goes and i'm still tinkering to make it go faster, my goal is 70mph. If you bought an Apparition just order the turnigy 180 amp esc with it and you can buy one of there cheap 2.4 radios too, the stock motor will handle 4s and get you low 40's but you will be quick to upgrade. My friend has one and he has the turnigy typhoon 1800kv outrunner in it which is a cheap $25 dollar motor and hes getting mid 40s on 4s and it stays really cool, its an all aorund very reliable setup.

I have heard great things about the Geico hull, i was checking one out on Friday at the local hobby shop too, i must say i want one!! but i got too much money invested in the hobby right now too buy another boat. the geico goes pretty fast stock from what i hear in the low 40's. I will say if i were to own one i would instantly be upgrading the esc and motor and running it on 5 or 6s, but thats just because i'm a speed freak. And anyone who replaced a burnt out stock esc with another stock esc is stupid, t-180 all the way.

I'm also a speed freek and typically I'm not happy till it has to much power and even to the point of rendering them useless.lol true story. I got a mini-v just to run in pools but after I replaced everything with the best I could squeeze into it the boat is now useless.lol u squeez the trigger and the boat will litterally jump out of the water doing a barrel roll. So this thing barely stays right side up in a lake so imagine how crazy it is in a pool. Even if u eaze into the throttle it immediately jumps to the other end of the pool resulting in eating a wall. I'm that same way with my cars but we won't get into that here in the boat forum. To bad the king of shaves cat wasn't such a pile. I really like the scale look of that also. What's the running gear like on those hk cats? Is it any good? What about the twin aparition? That sounds fun although I'd have to buy 2 esc's and possibly motor upgrades so that'll take me over my budget right now even though I have a little time to work on it and save up. Shipping?

AMEN brother! I couldnt agree more.

I love my Geico, yeah it took some fiddelin and the factory hatch is garbage, but a little tweakin, some fiberglass reinforcemnt on the inside of the hatch and its an awesome, awesome boat.

I have several Probaot escs and all of them are fantastic. The only one Ive ever burned was 100% my fault, pushing it on 5S, w/ too large a prop and my RX batt died so I hooked the BEC back up and Oh and it was also in a heavier and larger hull.

I have a Venom EKOS hull for sale in the swap shop. It is a great hull. I did not get Venom hardware or electronics w/ it when I purchased it. Which, from all I heard on the EKOS cat, was fine with me. Im selling it as I want to build a P-mono race boat and the P-1 I dont think is going to keep up w/ the DFs. I want both but cant afford to have it all.

The Genesis is a good boat as well, but as others have said, for extremem reliability, plan on ridding of the esc thats in it. Some have gotten away w/ pure insanity on it, running it at its max voltage (7S) and running fast, but it wasnt too many packs before it didnt wanna go anymore. Handling wise its a great sport boat and an okay race boat. She like to hook in the turns so youll really need to learn to "drive" the corners.

Anyway, just some of my thoughts. IMO, just about all of them are great and all of them need a little nudge hear and there

Oh, and Im rebuilding a brand new twin apparition as we speak... Ill leave it at that for that one.....

I purchased a New Apparition twin hull Catamaran 2 days ago I am using 1620KV WATERCOOLED BRUSHLESS MOTOR which came with the boat,

                          I am also using a

Turnigy 180 AMP Water-cooled Electronic Speed Controller.
                          2 X 11.1 Volt 40C LIPO BATTERIES (2650mah) & series link lead for 22.2 VOLTS.
                          2.4 Ghz WATERPROOFED radio equipment.

I Took it out for the first time today and blow the motor up after 5 min, it completely seized up smoke and everything not sure why! The water cooling system was working fine a wasn’t blocked,

I now need to replace the motor and not sure what to get,

I wanted to increase my batterys to 35c (5000mah) to give me a longer running time but im worried about this now as I was only running it for 5min..

Overall im looking for performance with a balance between speed and run time can anyone help me with my setup and what I need to do,

                          Thanks very much..
