That is why we reinforce with Carbon fiber or you can glass in some 1/8" plywood. Not at all unusual to mount that way.

You have got a weird spacing. Is that the distance from the inside to inside of the rails or outside to outside?

Wood rails? You have one of the older Proboat hulls if it has wood rails. The rails in my boat are factory installed. If I could get them out I would.

You could also go with one of the mounts from Jim Williams at South River RC.

No matter where you get the mounts, just shim your existing rails to a standard 5" spacing. A couple pieces of 1/4" ply on each side and your good to go.

so i have the older version? thats the last time i buy rtr boats off craigslist lol well i got it for 300 with everything. ok so 1/4 ply (2 on each side) so its ok to leave the existing rails in there?

I worded that wrong, one piece of 1/4" on each side. Then some1/16th sheeting to equal the 5" spacing. Wait till you get the mounts to do that.

Why not just ask Peter for a custom motor mount to your specific rail distance.I bet Peter will be more than willing to build to your needs if feasible......just my 02 cents...Al
