    35" Hull or Bigger

I am looking to start building a DeepVee that can handle 6s and a monster motor. I don't want to get into a garbage hull, but what are some recomendations to Hull Manufacturers to look at? I am thinking that 35" is the very smallest I should consider. I've seen a couple beautiful boats on this forum, but am looking for the best bang for the buck.
    Thanks,

Id buy a Delta Force Pirate mono hull.35"long and supposed to handle chop pretty good.OSE sells them for a good price.Plus, youll get it in a few days.It can definitely handle 6s with ease.

      Thank you for the reply.

I've seen those and they look like a nice hull. I mentioned I was interested in that specific hull to a local hobby store owner, but was told that with the power I'd be putting to this boat would tear that hull up. He seems to be very knowledgable with boats, which is a rarity with stores in this area. He suggested Aeromarine Laminates 43" Stingray. It's a hull for a gas boat that I can get for a couple hundred bucks. I supposed I should mention I'm putting a Castle 1717 motor in this thing & 2 5000mAh 3s batteries.

The Pirate will run good with that motor. My friend is putting the 1717 in a 32" Cyberstorm. You can get either boat, but the DF will be faster than the Aeromarine. You havent mentioned any speed goals either.

Speed goal I want to see is well into the 50's, but it's not just the speed but also able to run on big water when conditions are less than ideal. I have an SV that's a bit small for that.

Id go with the bigger hull then.I dont think a 1717 will push the 50's very easily if you go over 40".If you go bigger than 35",maybe 8s would be a better option for your speeds.
Others will chime in here eventually and give you more and better options.

Well Larry, I really appreciate your input. I'm not going to 8s, nor do I have the desire to. I really want to put something together that's going to be a runner, but more important is reliable. Oh...and one more thing...stomp a neighbor who thinks he's cute with his Traxxas Spartan.

Lets leave the Spartan for the new guys coming into the hobby.JPriami has made his run good (not 50mph yet),but more importantly run cool with the stock motor/esc.Another member replaced the powertrain in his for reliability and cooler running.
Watch for Johnson to post a build thread on his Pirate. He ll be using a different motor than a 1717.His should be good for at least 60mph.Im mostly a cat guy,but I do have one mono that Im still tuning on to get at least mid 50's.
You cant go wrong with the 1717.You will have the reliability with that motor and you can use a 180 esc with it too.Just use and external BEC or reciever pack. This motor should be able to turn a bigger prop too.

What ESC, what batteries, manufacturer, c rating etc and props are proposed?

The Pirate is worth considering. Excellent quality from Delta Force. Then again
( Gee, am I biased ?), the forthcoming Insane 34" mono with the 1717 would be a hot setup as well. I hope you realize that running 3S1P, with only 5000 mah on board will limit runtime.

I would look for a new hobby store.....

A 1717 is not a monster motor for the DF hull 35" hull...but would be well suited for it......and in a 43" hull thats designed for gas motors (heavy hull)..... not appropriate....

6S will get you in the 35,000Rpm range with that motor....keep your prop small and stick with the 35" range hulls.

Yes he was. 2 X 3S 5000 mah in series gives you 6S X 5000 mah to spend. Not much for a hungry motor in a big mono.

Doby, Larry, and Proper are all on the button...stay within 34" and yes Doby, I would also look for a new hobby shop.

Edit: As a suggestion look at MHZ deep V hull designs, but the US operation has been closed.

                              Ok. Thanks for the input.
With this Castle 1717, should I be running a Castle 240 amp esc? What are some other options on esc that won't ding me $250 bucks?
