Turnigy HV monster 200 amp...$200.00...I would run an HV ESC on 6S or 8S on the hull size you are looking at.

      I think a 1717 on 6s would work well with a seeking 180a. There around $100 too.

I've seen this guy with the Darth Vader boat on youtube. Boat looks like it's a screamer. Thank you for the link. I wanted to see better pictures of what he did.

Makes me warm all over to read about Vader in a thread.

Got him up to 55.7 the other day on an x447.............the 1717 has registered 81* as highest recorded temp............that was after a 6-7 minute run...............Love that boat!

another thing to consider is runtime, with the bigger boat on the same power supply not only is it going to be considerably slower but your runtimes will be a lot shorter too. i myself would go with the 35" delta force without a doubt if 6s is your limit.

                  A 1717 in a DF35 on 6s2p would get you 60.........................

                    Make-a-wake,
I was leaning towards the DF33" for a hull. Is the extra 2" going to make that much of a difference with this motor? I can't imagine it would.

Well, to quote you........... "Speed goal I want to see is well into the 50's, but it's not just the speed but also able to run on big water when conditions are less than ideal."

Sounds like the DF35 is the ticket

35 it is then. I'm excited to get started. If there are any other tips, parts I should look into, let me know.

Id get the Pirate and not the regular 35".It will handle the chop better.

Looking at the Pirate hull for the first time a minute ago, does look like it would handle bigger water a bit better......................either one is good.

If you dont have batts picked out, i'd go with a couple of these in parallel for 8000mah and 240 amps constant delivery. They're in the US warehouse, so i believe they are eligible for the 1 cent shipping.

I'm putting a similar set-up in the new DF 21 Mk2. 37" long , beautiful gelcoat finish and relatively inexpensive. I'm going to use a 1717 Air, so slightly lower kV of 1500 compared to the car version. I'm expecting it to go very well on 6S 5,000 mAh (limit of our rules).

The Pirate would also be a great option.
