The 380 68mm long motor will be OK but its still gonna leave you asking for more!

You will want to step up and also have a sufficient speed control & batteries. I ran the smaller packs as that is what fit into the stock battery tray. I have since ripped that tray out and now Im free to run whatever batts I want. Next year I intent to look for two packs about 4000 mah each...

Knowing what I know now I would go 4s power, leopard motor 3674 2200 KV, 180A esc and of course a K42 prop.

      Gid onya Matt
well selected boat for your first jump into FE waters
      as many have said.
I have two such vessels both do very well.

      1) you are not going to get much for the motors and cells
you have. See if it's not too late to cancel your order on the 380XL.

maybe 30 USD for the old 380 and cells (if they are not puffed)
maybe 50 USD for the 380XL

      2) Look for a UL1 set up motor and ESC. Get two 2s 5000 mah 30c Turnigy Lipos
and run 4s1p. (batteries in series)
Put the bats along side of the motor
Get the COG (Center Of Gravity) about 7" from the back of the boat.

To mount the UL-1 motor. Remove the motor holder then
I use a rectangular piece of 1/4" alloy (Aluminum) it spans the motor mounts.
I drill it for the motor and a large hole for the coupler
the ends of the piece are thick enough for 4-40 srews to hold it to the mounts.

      3) The flex now is a 4mm unit, it will not last long. Kintec as mentioned
      has the upgrade to 3/16.

This is a great ball of fun but your pockets may fell the crunch.

Welcome aboard and if you have some time
type "Prince" into the search box.

      This boat has many fans.

Yeah sorry I can't cancel the order now because they have already shipped it! I will have to stick with the 380xl if it doesn't heat up too much. I will put my 2 3c 2200mah in parallel aswell. Yeah these boats seem to handle very well and have a nice big spray out the back lol. They run very smooth aswell! And they sit very low in the water which I'm guessing is better? Thanks alot

Hey skipster, how much do you think I would get for everything? That will include, 2x 3cell 2200mah batteries (both new not puffed) brand new 380xl (hasnt come yet)and old 380L , 125amp HK esc (brand new hasnt come yet either) 2x 380 water-cooling jackets, stand , hyper 7 radio, hull, servo and all the hardware on it? Fully rtr how much do you think I would get? I want to start all over again with the same boat cause they are only around 210 new but that's with a crappy esc and motor!! Thanks

Or do you think I should keep the hull and try and get as much as I can for the electronics? Cause I spose there's nothing wrong with the hull apart from the amall hole in it which is nuthing to worry about! What do you think? Or should I try the new 380xl first?

ok i have made my decision i am going to sell everything except the trailer and radio for $300. that includes the 2x 3cell batteries one has electrical tape around it because i thought i could feel a cell puffy but just a false alarm. they are pretty much brand new batteries( not puffy), feigo 380xl motor brand new never run hasnt arrived yet, 380L motor still running , 125amp esc never run hasnt arrived yet, all the hardware nothing will be taken off this boat. also the boat stand. If you are interested you can pm me about shipping costs ( where you live ) let me know if you are interested! P.S there will be pics of everything when the esc and motor arrive. this will be put in the for sale section later tonight
              thanks alot

Sorry changed my mind not for sale lol it's too good!! They handle really well and there's no point getting the same boat when I can put a 540 brushless in it later on if the 380xl heats up too much

You can easily find adapter flanges for the motor swap. The alternative is to change just the central part of the motor mount with the one from:
                  http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80230
You just have to remove 0.5mm from the sides and it's a good fit. I did it on a friend's boat and was a 30min job.
The 380's could be used in a smaller hull... yes you'll buy more after you get the taste of it... :p

Im sure you could fairly easily brake the motor mount loose from the hull and put in the larger sized one. From my understanding they are not installed the best anyhow. At which point I would highly advise a layer of carbon fiber or carbon/kevlar.

You are not going to get more for brand new stuff than anyone else can buy it for. So whatever you paid, take about 10% off and thats what you should expect to get for it and shipping.

I havent read back, but providing your batteries are a sufficient C rating they will work- however your run time wont be to long.

Put the 380 XL in it and run it and have some fun. When you get some more knowledge then upgrade it.

yeah i change my mind cause theres nothing wrong with the hull or anything so whats the point selling it lol. I am going to put the 380xl in when i get it and try it. I will have my 2x3cell 2200mah in parallel so it gets it up to 4400mah which will be better. And if the motor gets too hot with the stock propellor i will try sell the 2x380 motors for around $50 and get a 540. a mate of mine reckons the 540 motors will fit in the stock motor plate does anyone know if that works?. Cornelp so that other motor mount in the offshore elctrics site will it just slide in place of the other plate that was there? Also just one question how strong are the hulls of these boats? also whats the best upgrade you can do to them? im guessing it would be putting a 540 brushless in it?
                        thanks alot

These hulls are OK strength wise for how you get them. When you push the envelope you need to add some to them. Thats why mine has a carbon floor.

Whats the prop you got now?

I think an X440 3 blade would be good. The K42 makes it go pretty good also.

i am running the stock prop. what motor and esc are you running in yours? also can you send me a picture of yours just to get an idea of your setup compared to mine.
                            thanks

Hey everyone If I decide to buy a 540 brushless because the 380xl heats up too much what will be the best motor choice? I will probably only have $50 to spend on the motor so if anyone knows a good Fast motor for that price please let me know. Thanks alot

My buddy has a hobbyking turnigy 36/50 or 56 2300kv in his sv27, runs great. Think it's around 20$ for the motor and needs a water jacket. took a couple of tries to find the right prop it flies now! Temps are nice and low.
Think he is using 5600mah 2s packs in series. So 4s 5600mah not sure of the C rating.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
