                Jim, we're discussing this boat on "down and dirty outdrive' thread and they have evidently eliminated the u-joint altogether http://cgi.ebay.com/Racing-Fiberglas...item41566bf921. I've never seen anything quite like that, but Steven says Graupner has done it in the past. Pretty boat. - can you expound on 'bad quality'.                   what i can see from the pics is that the strut,turned rudder(2 in 1),forces the teflon tubing along with the flex cable inside to steer,...uhmmmmmmm

                    People have been running steerable outdrives with a flex cable drive for years. Decades in fact. They work great. The main thing is you really need to make sure your steering servo and linkage is up to the task. Any movement or flex here and it will kill the running of the boat as the drive flexes around causing spin outs and eratic behavior.
