    my best friend have the blackjack 26" and I have the sv 27" they are both great boats and can be set up to hadle anything. the cat is fatser into the wind but the vee seem to have it with the wind. The sv also come with more quality hardware than the blackjack.

    I have not seen a cen run in person and would be curious to get a hold of one to test side by side with the bj and sv. the only problem with the bj & sv is that you will be over $300 with the batteries and charger.

    I would keep an eye on ebay there are some good deals to be had on there.
    The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

      for the price, (around $300) you have to go with the SV. but for a cheap first boat the cen aquajet is a good choice. mine is hopped up a bit and i would say it runs in the 27-30mph range with good batteries.

        I thought that a cat was better in calm water, and a boat with a "V" hull was better in water that was choppy. I considered the Aqua Jet or the SV27 because I thought they could be run in either situation. Being a newbie, I also thought that they would be easier to handle (than a cat) and better for a beginner.

          sort of a late welcome, but ummm

          welcome....

          the SV27 isnt exactly a rough water performer....tends to handle very losely in rough conditions...most likely because its "V" isnt that sharp, and its more of a shallow vee than a deep vee....

          cats actually do sometimes perform better in the rough....they also tend to be more stable as when on plane they are running on two sponsons spaced apart rather than balancing on whatever small area of the vee is still touching the water as with a v hull....

          however, size of the boat, type of hull, weight and speed will all play a role in its rough water handling....

            copy from pm

            chop, i sent you a pm heres the copy;

            hello, i have been through 12 different fast electric boats in 3 years, i still have 7 of them. in my opinion 2 questions define what kind of boat(s) you get. 1. how fast do you want to go? 2. how much money do you want to spend. speed=$$$!!! i am willing to sell my aquajet to you for $100 plus shipping. i have about $180 into it, but seeing as you are new to this addiction i will hook you up(hence my log in name ). all you need is a good set of batteries and the boat is "ready to run". i can send you pics and even take it out and shoot a short video of it so you could see the speed. i would guess it around 26-28mph, top speed being dependent on battery quality of course. let me know. jimmy
