Yes, the square 2 piece units are a bugger to lube (remove the strut), but you won't lose everything if the collet/coupler comes loose. One piece is easier to lube, but easier to lose, too. It's a tradeoff, but I still favor the one piece design. There are shaft savers you can install in front of the stuffing tube, if that is a concern.

Speaking of shaft savers, where can you ge them for 3/16. Most are for the gas size shafts.

The collect in the picture looks like the one from Kinetic racing, a very gool collect. The brass insert will tend to stick as its very soft to do its job. To remove I often have to Grip the shaft at the prop end with pliers and tap the pliers outward with a spanner to give it a jolt to get it to let go.

Also with the collects make sure the motor shaft dosent get inserted too far into the part that gets atached to it as it wont allow the collect to tighten up properly when assembled, otherwise it will apperar tight and let go in the middle of the lake

      cheers

We need to educate the chinese to abandon those damned square shafts! Not only are they a pain to remove to lube, they don't run very true either! Just be advised that just about all the Chinese RTR's have these. We will not sell a boat set up that way. Our flexshafts are the normal 'loosen the coupler, pull the shaft out the back' !
