The fist thing to try is to give the collet a light tap with a rubber hammer or soft end of a screwdriver. Remember light, don't beat it to death.

Can you undo the motor mount and pull the whole thing out that way?

The Aeromarine style collets hold the cable MUCH tighter that others for the first few tightings. Take a large flat blade screwdriver and a small peice of wood and pry between the strut and collet and it will suddenly pop off, make sure the end is soldered well and smooth, sandpaper and a drill work well. Keep the screw driver handy for about the first 6 pulls after that they will be fine.
The harder the prop pushes the tighter they get, just what we want.

The flex shaft could be rusted to the collet. Put a drop of Kroil or Liquid Wrench on the collet and let it sit overnight, then try again.

Put something between the nut part and the part attached to the engine. A small open end wrench that will just slip over the collet is perfect. Tap backwards on the end of the shaft lightly wit a soft hammer or piece of wood. Looks like the collet is stuck in the nut part still gripping the cable. You need to tap the collet part out of the nut. As soon as it breaks loose the cable should slip out.
I've never had one stick that bad but usually I have to give the cable a good push back to get everything to release.
My dremel does the same thing, the collets stick in the nut, always have to tap down on the bit to get it to release. Might be time for a new one, it's only the original dremel from back in the 70's with the big external speed control!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

The third pic shows the brass retainer has backed out of the collet. ??
Suggests the 'teeth' of the retainer have dug into the end of the flex.
Carefully pry apart the teeth..and apply brute force from prop end ....

AHH REWIND ,thanks for all the help guys but what i worked out

after i took motor out was that the flex shaft and solid shaft that prop is attached too are 2 parts ,at the end of the flex shaft its square ,

and the solid shaft has a square type female end that it slots into

so it seems i have too pull motor out to flex shaft ,is this true ?? .since i have too take motor out to grease ,how often should i do every run or 3 or 5 and what about solid shaft as it seems strut has to come out to remove this shaft does this need grease too

do you guys think i can replace my setup with a standard 3/16 flex to solid shaft ??

I take my cables out of the boat when I'm done running, wipe them off and just set them in the hull, I grease the cable well when I install it before running and thats it for the day.
Pulling the cable and drying it helps prevent corrosion, I also get a good look at everything and can get replacement parts if needed before the next trip to the pond.
Everybody has their pet mix, I like a mix of 90w marine gear oil and marine grease, it stinks but I have never had a cable run dry in a days running. Way cheaper than the little tubs of rc boat cable grease.

Either that or you have to move the strut to remove it.
Lots of people replace those with the normal cables and soldered shafts. It makes oiling/greasing much easier.

After removing cleaning & oiling i leave the shafts out of the boat unless im running the next day so that the shaft is straight especially if im not useing the boat for a while perhaps. If the shafts in the boat for some time with the shaft curved in the tube & you do get a bit of rust forming it can set the shaft in the curved position & when you spin the motor up it can damage the shaft or liner or stuffing tube because the shafts set in a curve especialy if you run on salt water as some do. Thanks Martin.

Im having the same issue with this genesis i just got, thinking of getting the zip gun out of garage with 170 psi air..........that should do the trick, this is a brand new boat thats never seen water to my knowledge......dang....this is the second one ive run across, glad the finger stopped bleeding, them flat blade screw drivers leave a hell of a flesh wound.
