      Hi Guy's ,

We are fortunate in our hobby of R/C Boating that racing can be inexpensive to a degree if we want have limited budgets or want to stay within one when it comes to it unlike most forms of motorsport , & i feel that this could be of great benefit to such clubs as MBCOFNSW to develop a class or classes based on RTR that would create greater appeal to people considering the hobby . Not everybody wants that level of competiveness , or at least not while they are learning to operate at club level ....

hi brad yesi agree with what you are saying it would be great for entry level members such as my self to have rtr based classes and i think its great that tim and other members are tryin to do something about that and i agree also i dont want that level of competativness while i am learnin to operate at the club level.

Its hard because my only other option is bashing at a pond while i still enjoy that i have always wanted to be in a club enviroment with other people who love and enjoy the hobby as much as i do but budget has been my major constraint.

As well as the skill level to operate a nitro or gas boat as there the predominant classes which was leading me to the only choice of buyin such a craft but with tim and other members hoping to change that and suggesting the stiletto makes it so much easier and less daunting its now a task to find the stiletto in an aus shop lol.

              Hi Shannon ,

If you want to buy the Hornet it's up to you , though i have heard mixed reviews about its quality . Though i believe dubious hulls have a place in our hobby as well , i am sure that if you bought the Proboat Stiletto , you would be onto a winner as far as an RTR goes . Stiletto has received a lot of favourable reviews on this site from people that own the hull & as it was designed by a guy that races in the U.S.A that put a lot of forethought into it manufacture so at the end of the day i am sure you would be happier in buying the Stiletto & the price would not be much different between the two by the time it arrives ( $100 more for a higher quality hull ) ......

hi brad yes i think your right as it would be a much better boat especially when it would need to be made faster at some point.

Ill try and get the hull first then go from there as you said maybe go with p spec parts as i have only come across one brushless o/b which comes with the stiletto or can i run it rtr in the pspec class with the gear it comes with obviously ill change the radio and reciever to the one i have to save byin another radio.

Or do i have to get specific pspec stuff cheers.

                  Hi Shannon ,

Your best off reading the threads for the Stiletto right here on OSE.COM , which have been written by the actual owners of them & communicating with Tim & MBCOFNSW as to regulation regarding the emerging " P-SPEC " class ....

The running gear that comes with the stiletto is very suitable for P Spec.. Use that and be done with mixing and matching.

Just to be clear - this is not just an MBCofNSW initiative. Other AMPBA affiliated clubs are doing it too. I'm no expert. If you want some advise from someone who's really been a driving force in making this class happen, have a chat with Kris Flynn in VIC.

RTR classes on their own just don't draw entries here in Oz. Remember our population is less than a tenth of the US, so what works there doesn't always work here. I can tell you this from almost 20 years of doing this, And of that time I've been involved in running races and a club (one of the largest clubs in Oz for that matter), not just talking about it. One big problem within an RTR type class, you still have massive variances. The same sort of variances you would have if fitting in with the classes we already have in place. It's hard enough attempting to cater for the FORTY official classes that are in place now!

                        Hi Shannon ,

You may also want to keep an eye on the " Swap Shop " right here on OSE.COM , as they will become more frequently advertised for sale as owners move on to different pursuits . There has been one advertised in the last couple of days in the in the Swap Shop ...

                        All the best ,
