genesis cat on the way-need input!

Fellow boaters, got my genesis comming.....now the big question.....i want at least 5 minutes runs and want some power to boot, not looking to set a speed record but would like a good reliable set up with a prop recommendation. Also batterys, planning on a 180 esc so that will be done and out of way. 50mph and id be happy boater.

How much can i push thru the motor that comes with the genesis or do i need to chuck it? I know alot of you guys have been there and done that so im going to the experts in this field. planning on running the seaking esc (if spelled correct)

first. you wil never be able to push that hull to 50 mph with the original motor.
the org motor is a to small for that hull so i would change the motor or go down on the prop IF you going to keep the orginal motor.

if you setup that boat with a leopart 4074 2000 or 2200 kv on 4s2p you can get 40-50 mph for 8-10 minutes depending on how you run your boat.

you can also read this tread. you wil get a few pointers from that. and there are several other genesis treads on here :D

Ive posted this set up quite a few times:
        My 37" Drifter cat.
        Leopard 4082 1500kv.
        6s Lipo.
        180 amp esc.
        Starting prop was an X445.
It ran 62 mph and I got over 5 minutes of runtime. Also my temps were way way low.I dont remember the exact number, but I tried an X447 after and still had cool temps.I believe this motor in this cat would turn and X450 with ease and not tax the electronics. My Drifter isnt a Genesis, but they are similar in size.Im extremely happy with this set up.And by running 6s you will draw less amps than a 4s set up.

Things to do when you receive your Genesis RC Boat

Remove all fittings (probably except the rudder mount) and re fit everything, make some rubber washers to go on things like the water outlet and antenna mounts.
Then silastic them back into the boat

Remove the water cooling tube and fit larger tube. get some small cable ties around every water conection point as well.

Get a Bulkhead fitting and replace the crappy metal ring which is where the water goes into the hull from the rudder.
          http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=aero-2014

Fiberglass around the stuffing tube is too thin and weak, also may let water into the boat, that might need a bit of re enforcing

My servo mount was in the compleatly wrong spot. Had to remove it, then glue it back in more sideways. Im still using the stock rudder arm and havent had any issues. Others have changed it out to a larger diameter link rod but im starting to think they havent got it straight in the first place..

Im running 2 4S packs in parrallel, stock motor with a 38mm brass prop, and a T180.
Id reccomend replacing all connectors with Bullet plugs
I know everyone says that the stock motor is crap, ive looked after it and put some oil into the bearings after each run, ive ran it about 15 times, it has enough power to get the boat about 1M out of the air and flip it

I run mine against 26CC gas boats in long high speed runs..... which i guess is probably not advisable

Unless you go 4s2p you need to run a lower kv motor and higher cell count for decent run time. The 4082 Larry mentioned is what i was gonna suggest with a couple of big 3s lipos in series. Zippy makes some 3s 5800 30c's that would give you plenty of punch and over 5 minutes runtime.

            http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9932

or you could run two of these 6s 3000's in parallel for 6000mah

I am gathering parts for a Genesis build. What motor ESC and prop combo do you guys recommend for my using 2- 7.4v 4500 lipos. What can I expect for speed?
              Thank for the help

This is exactly what I was gonna recommend... or a 1521 Neu 1y 1577kv instead of the leopard if you wanna up the "fancy" quotient..... very similar in power.... and reliability/runtime...

Would a octura x642 be a ok prop to run on this, thinking of going to another size on m/g and havent talked about props yet or what to run, think i need something different on m/g other than what im running now according to what ive been reading. dunno if the shaft size is the same also.
