Trust me, the castle will give much more speed than the stock motor. Kv has almost nothing to do with it. The castle 240 lv is no good on 6s.
The Castle hydra is a totally different esc from the MMM. I agree, the MMM does just fine on 6s. The hydra has been shown over and over to not work well on 6s.
The 1520 will lose much less rpm under load than the stock 540 xl size motor, and can spin WAY WAY more prop.
Still, all that, in a cheap hull? I wouldn't waste the potential.
It isnt too hard to mount up some hardware on a bare hull, You've got plenty of people to help you through it right here.
It's a 36" hull also, (The Traxxas) so you'd be able to prop up quite a bit before you had handling issues associated with prop diameter.

Ok so what would you recomend for an ESC then without breaking the bank to badly?...the Castle 240 hydra is already $255 or so....i'd rather not break $300 for an ESC if possible...
if it ain't broke you ain't trying hard enough.
if at first you don't sucsed maby failure is you thing.
Do you guys thing that the new Castle 1/5 scale esc would work? (the Mamba XL) it's $300....8s limit....and designed to push baja's with Neu 20** series motors....would this work or do i need an esc with water cooling?

Why would you do all those upgrades and keep a 42mm plastic prop on it?
Yes anyhow. The stock motor is around 12-1300 kv if I remember correctly, not 1600.
I run the 1520 in a 31" mono on 6s with a x648. Well into the mid sixties.
No way that Traxxas motor could come even remotely close to the power output.

The stock motor is 1600kv in the Spartan. I wouldnt expect him to keep the stock prop, that why i said "You are gonna have to load it up with prop to make a good difference." in post #10. I was referring to running two different 1600kv motors on 6s wasnt gonna make alot of difference unless you prop it up.
