Got my Pursuit Mono! - Some Questions

After quite a wait, my Pursuit finally came today from Jan at Kintec. It looks great, and I'll begin working on everything tomorrow.

I've already emailed Jan, but I thought I might as well share my questions on here.

I tried removing the flex shaft and it won't budge. I loosened the coupler, but it still won't move. Is there a trick to getting it out? Am I missing something?

Also, I was going through everything and found that I can't blow through the rudder pickup water tubing. I tried the motor cooling and everything worked fine, so I took out the ESC to take a look. When I tried blowing through the tubes that go in and out of the ESC, no air goes in. It seems clogged. It's a SeaKing 120a. I've never had one of these ESC's, so I'm not very familiar with it. Does the water cooling only work when it's on?

Overall, it looks like a fun boat!

I had a pursuit. It has a two piece drive shaft so it will not pull out like a "typical" one piece shaft. You need to take the stinger off the back and then you can see that there is a shaft that you can slide out of the back and then another seperate piece in the stinger that slides out. Hope this helps you out.

By the way, I ended up replacing the shaft with a single piece shaft and it made it a whole lot easier to grease it.

Wait so, I have to take the whole stinger off? Like, the whole strut? That sucks. I usually grease the shaft before each day at the pond. It seems like a lot of work.

It's good in the sense that just in case the shaft slips from the coupler, it'll be safe. But still, I think I'll have to get the one piece shaft.

Yes it is a 2 piece 4mm system that requires the strut to be removed to remove the shaft. This 2 piece 4mm shaft is common it artr china boats. I NEVER use those shaft, I have a .187 flex in my pursuit. I'm running a leopard 4074 2200kv with a seaking 180. The seaking 120s are very very nice esc's. You may have something blocking the nipples. Reinforce with epoxy or ca glue ALL OF THE WOOD in that boat. The pieces are not secured very well. All in all it is a nive boat.

Is that a Leopard motor? If so you will def want to dump that 4mm shaft, that leopard will destroy that 4mm system. You will want a .150 at least or bump up to the .187 like I did. Very nice by the way. I run 2 4s 3600mah 30c in parallel in my pursuit. I still need to get some video on that bad boy.

Oh gotcha. So I guess I'm gonna have to get the 3/16 upgrade.

That's the motor that came with my boat, I know the Pursuit you got came with a different one though. From what I've heard this is a pretty good setup. I just wish the ESC would not be clogged.

I just tried running something through it and it goes in fine till the end. I put it through both holes. Still nothing. Bummer.

Yes it's the Leopard 4074 2200kv. Same one you've got It comes stock with the Pursuit's from Jan now. I'm planning on running 2 x 2s 5000mah 40c in series. I've got those for my SV27, so I'll buy more and use them for the Pursuit as well. And yeah, let's see some vids! What kinda speeds are you getting btw?

Only ran it twice in chop, high 40s on a m445. Temps nice and cool, have't had a chance to tweek and run in it on smoother water.

It should run much better in smooth water. I ran the SV27, as you know, in way too choppy water and my top speeds were pretty low. Hopefully better weather conditions this weekend!

Sounds good! I hope I can get this ESC problem sorted out. I emailed Jan and hopefully he can replace it for me.
