True, that is why I like the Swordfish esc's nicer layout bigger FETs...

There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!

They are Allan Hill Plasma speakers, the tweeter is flame powered, sold in the 80's the best sounding speaker IMO and still is, sold for approx $6500.00 a pair, got to listen to them, the shop only ran them once a week for 3 hours. Awesome!

I am about to solder together the battery cables on a CCHV240.
At the same solder joints I was planning to add cables and bullets to attach a extra capacitor bank.
I see that the 8 capasitors on the esc are 180µF 50V.
I have good availability of good quality caps, so question is should I use more of the same type, or could I use higher µF and maybe 63V caps for the extra bank?
The esc will be run in a DF33 with a NEU 1521/1.5D, mainly on 4S and some occational 5S runs.

              Xtra caps

Native Pauls explanation is correct. Go to the Schulze Electronics website for furthur info. http://www.schulze-elektronik-gmbh.de/index_uk.htm . Go to the "important tips" section.

I would put at least 63 volt caps, even though you are going to use it mainly on 4 to 5s as you might in the future use it on higher cell counts and possibly forget about the caps. If you use lower voltage versions and go the higher cell counts, it's really hard to put the Magic Smoke back in...make sure they are designed for switching power supply use! This is a MUST! they will work better and last longer.

My head starts hurting every time I try to figure out the BEST caps to buy and where. Can somebody find and post a link to the best caps so I can just click on "ADD TO CART"?

                    This is a start http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...name=P10344-ND http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...name=P12395-ND

Make sure you look at the data sheets of the manufacture for the type you are picking, and check to see if they are a low ESR type.
You will see there are other caps that have lower ESR than others, just depends if you can get them at a reasonable price without buying a large quanity. I use Radial Lead types for my applications. Make sure you check the physical size too.

These are what I am going to be using. They are the same as Etti Cap board caps.

I can get the 63V 1000uF ones if anyone wants them for $2.50 each, 3 for $6, etc.... I have to order at least 100 at a time though and it can take a long time to get from Japan, think Spring!

I have the 35V 1000uF ones at my side if anyone wants any... PM me

....toilet paper, don't leave home without some extra....

Not all capacitors are going to work or work well. I have read about failures. Panasonics are good.

                          Go too cheap and Poof!

are these any good at all?
