1-vote for the sv-27. Great all around boat, The sv-27r has all the upgrade parts over the original sv. Easy to tape hatch. Nice smooth curves on the hatch keep it in tact if it flips and if taped well will float forever upside down. Super fun boat!!

After reading your first post again I noticed you also considered the Venom King of Shaves. IMHO, and I am sure other members will agree with me here, This is not a good reliable choice to enter the hobby.

One important question that should be asked. What water conditions are you most likely to run in?

I have to warn you before you decide to purchase your first boat. F/E boats are highly addictive, you will probably end up purchasing all of the above anyway. So your only dilemma is....What one to purchase first.LOL.

Also did you want to run one battery or two?

The proboat shockwave 26 bl is a decent boat, I have one, can run lipos and none lipos and no programing card required, just flip a switch to go to lipo mode, it lso has 2.4 radio system, it has plenty of speed with one battery.

I am also a noob with little experience in boats. Anyhow, after research galore I settled on the Titan which will undergo a name change to the Spartan which has unfortunately not been released yet but it seems rather positive for November. Just way to many innovative features to ignore. No tape, water proof everything, single unit power module removal. The entire unit can be picked up RTR for around $320 if you shop around. Take a look at all the features on this link.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

After watching additional videos, the MG is the one for me. I watched a vid of it in rough water and it handled great. The SV27 just seems to be more of a "handful" in all conditions.

But I would like to see the Traxxas finally released and compared against some of these other boats.
