My build took a bit of an odd twist - somehow everything I build ends up being a composite. I went a cheap route on motor and drive and went with a turnigy outrunner. I am happy with it. They are nice boats.
I've just got the old Aquacraft SV27 motor & ESC in mine on 4s with an M545 prop.
Goes OK for our club spec. Once you clear the ducks & manage to avoid the marker buoys, that is.
Good check 785, was just getting ready to post on that.
So now my question: what is the big difference in the boats? The vacuum formed one is 24.2" long, or 7% bigger than the 1/16 at 22.5" long. People seem to put larger motors in the plastic one for a spec class. Why not the 1/16? Is it just that little bit that makes it too small?
I love the 1/16, and I am surprised they are not more popular. Scale looks, can run on smaller ponds and cost less. I love the 1/8"s, but man that is a lot of boat. The 1/12 I can see the popularity also.
