james and others.. Have to edit what i said above on this..the seaking will be on edge with the 1717...i just remembered i took the seaking out and replaced it with a swordfish 240 and then ran the mean machine like this with no problems..sorry i go confused with a couple of my other setups..i was playing musical esc's at that point in time...so no i would not recommend the seaking with the 1717 on 6s...5 s would be fine though

Everyone is all over these Castle motors because of the low prices but I still think the Leopard 5692 is a great deal when it comes to power for dollar. The larger boats are better suited with the big can/low kv motors.
Might be true but if the bearings in the Leopard motors are like other cheaply made motor's I will pass. I guess time will tell if they hold up or not...same goes for the Castle/Neu motors to be really honest.

After my investigation, my opinion is that its about equal to a 1524...............just my opinion.

Bro, I love the input, it gives me more to digest and make a choice of what I want to do..
I did buy two 1717 motors and two 1520's
I was told the 1520's are like the NEU 1521's and I think the guy at Castle said the 1717 is more like a 1527 but with more torque

i do enjoy sharing input when i think i can help...the 1717 is a definate beast..at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle it would pull my mean machine over backwards...and forget about punching it from a standstill...the 1520's are interesting too i think they would make nice twins in a big kitty

What about that 1/8th scale that was running a kb45 doing right around 50? I think on 6s you could hit 50 no problem. Light weight boat running less weight of packs 6s versus the weight of 8s,10s,12s. Don't forget he is talking the fastest least drag design hull (hydro) Well other than a rigger. I say go for it brushless55!

Well if guys on here can get a 30+ inch shovelnose going 50 on a blackjack motor surely the 1717 would motivate your hull!
