          Couple questions.

          1. Is the prop modded in any way?
          2. How is the boat running? any hopping in corners etc.
If all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed!

That is the same as my "P" Mono race setup - 447/3 prop
It will average about 140 AMP's when trimmed right.

If you want it to fail let Ray drive it.

Oh sure, nice dig buddy. I run that setup with a Turnigy 180 but, my 447x3 is modded like yours & Steve R's...

It could have been allot of things, clogged cooling, bad solder joint.

Yeah, I've baked about $200 worth of Himodel/Mystery esc's in many boats, never worried about warranty.

I'm glad I'm anal about my electronics, otherwise I'd have smoked a lot more. Learned allot about ESC construction and thier limits etc...

If the Chinese would only listen to me, Castle would be toast! They have decent designs but, execution is poor, cooling is usually minimal on the Turnigy's & Aquastar's, almost always they could add more water cooled heat sinks in between fet layers etc... Better quality copper wire...

so 15 degrees? If so, the Delta would run hot!

If I can remember, timing was auto....
Could that be one of the possible reasons to burn up my set below 3 minutes???
What timing should I set in case I will get the same set up again?

I will be honest with you, I do not think that 240a HV Swordfish can run on 4 and 5s setups. I think the high kv demands of those setups reveal some issues with the 240 amperage ability of the controller, where the lower kv/ higher voltage setups mask its 240 amp ability since you are probably pulling 150amps or less with 6s or higher. The reason I say this, I had two of these esc's, one on 4s2p, and the other on 5s2p. The 4s2p setup ran around for 1 or so laps, and toasted, and that was on a 1515 1y castle, the 5s2p was with a 1518 1y castle and the controller got so hot, I discontinued using it. I put back in the controllers I was running before the changeover (a turnigy 180a and hydra 240a lv), and the boats went right back out, ran fine, no heat issues. These setups were on my tunnel hulls, which run WAY more efficiently than monos. I have heard of great success with this controller on the higher voltage/ lower amp draws tho, but this sounds like an issue that is rearing it ugly head. Also, Doug Smock recently explained D winds vs. Y winds, and D wings are hell on esc's.....

Mike, have you tried the newer version with the 8 awg wires? I had 2 of the originals. They both ran hot and went bad on 9s2p. I received a warranty with the new wiring and all was good. Bacl on topic, 15 degrees timing would have definately heated things up. Did it de-mag or what?

MarkF brought up an interesting point in the FS thread. Did you check the length of the screws used to mount the motor?
