I was wondering would the UL1 motor and esc work in a 30" balsa cat
i built or would i be better off using something like a 9XL or 8Xl .

UL1 would probably be marginal and not enough torque, better off with one of XL cans you mentioned

Try the UL-1 motor. I'll bet it works just fine.

Geez - That Jay guy wins a National event and now he knows everything.

How are ya Jay? I am planning on a rematch next year!

I would say if the Balsa Cat weighs 6 lbs or less that the UL1 is worth trying. If heavier and because Cats run a little wet in corners and such it may be iffy.

Thanks guys for your input i took the boat into work today and put it on the scale as it sits
with everything in it less motor and esc its under 3 lbs. (2.835) so i guess it wouldn't hurt to try the UL1 setup.
