What does your wife think of this hobby?

I went to the pond today and took the wife along (she normally won't go). Since the pond is located in a park, my boats drew a few onlooker's as usual. As I was bringing my cat in, my wife told me that she was embarrassed. I inquired as to why the embarrassment. She told me I was a grown man playing with toys!

when... or if ever.... she finds how much money you have wrapped up in them she won't call them toys anymore...lol....

My girl doesn't mind my hobby much at all... she actually thinks its quite healthy...., and she would much rather have me ripping up the water with one of my R/C boats, then pulling 100mph stand up mile long high speed mono wheel smoke filled setting the front tire down stunts on my ducati...... thats one of the times she really isn't impressed....LOL.... knock on wood, I've only been down once.... totaled my old, cherished 916

Mine has the same opinion but when I told her how much it would cost to race a full size boat even in the lower classes she lives with what I do and only complains when a new box arrives at the door.
Mind you my rigger doing 80+ mph gets her attention real quick

Mine can't say anything as all of my regular income goes to the house and family. But my over time pay goes to my hobby and sometimes stuff for the kids.

My wife made me choose between her and my "Toys".

                  I do miss her sometimes..........

In all seriousness she don't mind and is actually very supportive.

Sounds like a statement that was intentionally meant to be mean and get under your skin in my opinion. Maybe she has another axe to grind?

My wife can get frustrated at times with RC stuff around the house, and she gets a little stressed knowing that every time we go run in a public park we are going to have people asking us the same old questions we've heard 1000 times ("How fast is that? How much did that cost?", ect...). Mostly because she feels like she has to answer because I am running the boat and she doesnt know what to say.lol

When we got married she asked me to stop drag racing, which was a big part of my life. I think when she gets frustrated with RC stuff she just tells herself that this is the trade off and its a lot better than the alternative.

I live in an apartment and the first boat was ok fit in the office nicely, but after the 3rd boat and 3 charges and batts laying around I was told we can get a garage. So I built myself a bada$$ work bench, shelves and numerous stands for the boats and planes and all the charges I have. Worked out great cause when shes pisses me off. " ill be in garage, call if you need me"

My wife doesn't mind my hobby....she thinks its healthier than watching UFC fighting LOL

And then there's the days when I get home from work and I'm tinkering with my RC's until dinner time...I'm in trouble. And if she found out how much money goes into RC hobbies...she'd probably shoot me

My other half likens these "toys" to womens shoes...

She does think I'm wasting quite a bit of money that could be used elsewhere... but likes that I'm having fun. That's what matters.

Doesn't like when I spend too much time in the garage (me either) or when something new blows up or breaks before it get's any use...

Well, I can tell you the ex was not delighted with the smell of paint drying and dust particles and when the boat room had more than 10 beauties, 4 chargers, numerous batteries, and all the other goodies....SHE WAS NOT A HAPPY CAMPER...Boys have to have toys...women can have shoes, clothes and romantic novels! which are all an illusion
