I too cant stand a mess of wires.lol I've re-wired my boat a couple times now just because of that. When I finally figured out why everyone was running bullet connectors on their batteries it helped a lot! :)

The ability to measure speed is important to me. I do it in all my high speed RCs but boats are a little rough on regular GPS units.

The downside of the castle ice is you are limited to 8s and under configurations. Im looking for something that I can use with 9-10s

You could try the ICE HV then it's up to 12S. You still won't be able to measure speed but pretty much everything else you could want is data logged.

Yes but get the antennae upgrade as the small wire some had had very limited distance. many many times i found 400 meters ( Edit: feet not meters, laugh) or more out the dash would beep and lose signal until i bought the antennae upgrade. Havent had any problems since then.

What about the antenna on little receiver that goes in the boat? Does it need to go through the top of the boat or can you just leave it inside the hull like 2.4ghz? I'm looking at the 900mhz setup and its tough to tell in their pictures.

I just got back from the pond using my eagle tree for the first time.

            Truly an awesome tool.

I just have the base 150 amp unit and the GPS expander.

Worked out awesome. Was a bit cramped in my 12" boat though.

I ran mine inside the radio box, with the antennae upgrade for the dashboard i never had any problems. Without the antennae upgrade, whether it was the reciever or dash or both i do not know. Fixing one (the dashboard) solved my distance problems though.

The ET gps always worked fine and never lost signal, and it was in the radio box also.

              On a side note.
If you use any amp or voltage monitoring you will need to complete a ground circuit to the ET receiver/recorder, i use a negative ground tap from in front of one of my esc.
