I can't comment on the 65mph as I don't think any of my boats go that fast. I will however comment on "MY" experience on the Turnigy batteries. I have said it for a while know and a lot have disagreed with me. You are spot on Tony! Without going into detail, when the packs are new and fresh they put out good power. Give them a few cycles and performance starts to degrade. These are 40-50c.
32" Cat, 65 mph, 3+ min runtime ; Do-able ?

Jason, the packs were Turnigy 4S 3600 30/40 C. The answer may be hidden in the C rating. The Turnigys [ not the newest higher rated ones just released] have the burst rating at ten "C's" higher than the "Constant" rating, while the premium packs, like Hyperion and TP's have the Burst rating at twice the Constant rating.
I believe that therein lies the difference. Don't get me wrong, I have lots of Turnigys which I use all the time for fun running, but when max performance is required for racing I use Hyperions.Comment

If sticking with the R2 32" cat hull... get good with fiberglass. The whole side just cracked apart... sitting in the sun to let the paint dry. The top/bottom seam split.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

I've been asked by a new friend to help him select components for this project : Using an R-2 32" cat hull [google it] on 5S, he's looking for 65 mph, 3 plus minutes runtime [ I talked him out of 5 minutes for obvious reasons] and not a budget killer. I have no idea what to tell him, partly because my experience is primarily with 4S setups and P class raceboats. My gut tells me this is not realistic, but any fact/experienced based suggestions on motor/SC would be appreciated.Comment

10 minutes? Wow. Is that constant running? If all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed!Comment

Pretty much.Ill ask him what the exact time is.Im just guessing, but it is more than 5 minutes,I know that for sure. Its a very good running boat.Comment
