    PT super sport 45

I finally have my Phil Thomas SuperSport 45running and it runs fantastic. The only problem i have is a very slight, slow osilation to the nose during hard straight line runs. Its barelly there and does not want to blow over or anything like that.....best mph today was 73mph.....and during hard oval runs no problem. Moved strut and batteries around very little and still there. Ballance point is 1 inch from sponson. Prop is x447 and strut is 3/4 from bottom. I have not had a hydro ever do this and i have built many. Like i said its very little but there.Very slow up and down and you can here it in the motor slightly aswell. Thanks
PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash

Have you checked and assured that the ride surfaces are FLAT and sharp??

Yes i sanded them down nice and flat. Like i said im very happy with this hull. The larger size is also much more forgiving which makes it more stable and fun to run.Its funny that this problem is at 50,60,70mph. Again very very slight but there to notice.

Maybe the CG is actually too far forward, causing the propr to hop a little? What is youre setup? Are you able to fit 2p into that hull?

Sounds like it is venting air, two much air getting packed under the tunnel, many different ways to stop this from a different prop & strut height to sponson gates and air dams, I like sponson gates myself these are just side skirts on the inside top of sponson they stop air coming of the sponson and going under the boat, they add down force due to this as well.

Always check the most basics. Steering. What size rudder? How much is in effect? Is the servo worn? Hows the linkage? Is there any play? Is it stiff enough when there is force applied. The turn fin and rudder might not be parallel or true to direction. Its common to find something very basic as the culprit.

This moron from the Continent with 0.000000000000001 people per square mile actually knows his stuff and his pearls of wisdom on boat setups are not to be ignored and as a bonus he has a wicked sesne of humour.

Well just got back from the lake and all is well. The heat here is unreal at the lake with no breeze but I decided to try a slightly larger prop .....from a x645 to a x647 and she ran perfectly smooth. I had tried 5 props but none that big. Four 75 mph passes and very smooth on 18.5 volts 2p and then Tried 14.8 volts 2p and ran 63 mph oval consistantly. Dont know why but its much better now. M4a1usr your correct on the basics. First time out and i forgot to slip on the drain line to the cowl and she was filling up with water. Not good and a very "basic" mistake.Water sloshing around does some wacky things with handling of boat. Thanks guys

Great to hear and it sure is fast !! Can we see some vid of this rocket ??Different Props even of the same model but different size can change very slightly the lift characteristics and this can change the hydro and aerodynamics in all sorts of ways.

I will get some asap! I love this boat! Even when it starts to come off the water it stays perfectly flat and sets right back down with just a hair off the throttle. My other boats would just go right over LOL. I tried many props and none made as big a difference as this one for whatever reason so im very happy. Finally!!!!!!!

No, Sorry. This is actually a last ditch effort to stay in boating that i put togather. For a long time I was chasing insane speeds with a 30 inch hydro and allthough it was very fast, 102 best, it broke, burned, crashed , burned, o and burned LOL so i quit for 2 months. I really missed it so decided to sell everything and build a fast all purpose boat that would stay on the water. Thats why the PT 45.....its bigger and can handle rougher water and stay down. I will get some video very soon.
