The hull seam cracked while out in the sun to dry the paint...

Did some fiberglass patching and sprayed the interior with White Appliance Epoxy paint...

Still working on making this a "usable" hull.

That looks hot dude. The wood really pops with the white floor. Is the hull really that bad?

It's really flimsy and warped. I'm being as delicate as I can, but it's going to be a challenge for sure. The fiberglass is very thin. Thinner than any other boat. Thinner than the Surge Crusher.

          Hey guys...

I was thinking about pulling the trigger on this cat myself....found a thread in RCgroups where some testing was done with this hull.

I think I'm going to call it R2D1. Only 1 drive!

I'm just going to stick a strudder in it with some leftover ESC/Motor combination and play with it in the salt water. Don't really need more than 30 mph in choppy waters, so might do OK if the hull holds together.

On second thought... the Turnigy "long lipos" fit in the sponsons... I could make this a 6s2p setup.

Hmm... How about an 1100 Kv 36-74 15XL on 6s w/125a ESC? $30 motor... $30 ESC... $50 batteries... 70mph? Probably not. Maybe 60, but fun!

I like having choices... now to wait and see what I'll end up doing. Vacation next week... so plenty of time to figure out a good setup.

I think it will do nicely.

Just hope the ESC holds up on 6s.

                      All wired up!

Planning to paint the mount once the epoxy fully sets. Help keep the white theme going. I think I'll use a separate servo mount from the one that came with the hull.

                      If anyone cares to make a starting prop suggestion; 6s 5k 30c 1100kv KD 36-74 15 XL

I'm planning on starting with a 438 plastic prop. The one that comes with the Apparition and Genesis hulls stock...

Looks good. 1100kv on 6s about 24k rpm a 38mm prop seems kinda small IMHO, but im not the best at prop selections. I would start at like a CF42 or CF45 like I said JMO.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get her up to an m445 for final config, just being cautious as not to burn anything up on the maiden run.

In my Genesis Cat I run a 580 7L on 5s, I started with a CF45. I had good reults, so I moved to a m445 and it ran like crap. The prop was to much for that boat, got bad prop walk and blow overs. Gained almost 5mph with it which pushed the boat to or past it's limits. That's a fast prop.

Yeah, I've had some issues with prop walk on the Genesis with the 445. Took some strut adjusting and COG changes to get it better... Still likes to flip. Probably due to excessive lipo weight though...

                                It's ready for water!

The reason the hatch sticks up is due to the shape of the hull curving and the hatch being straight. Design problem.

All in all, it's a decent build... but I have no idea how long it will last... It seems OK, however certainly not a confidence inspiring piece.
